Herman Gillis (Sherman) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Herman Gillis (Sherman), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Ezra Pound

[edit]

In addition to the answer on the article talk: Wikipedia is made by volunteers, and how articles look often depends more on what they like than what a reader would want. You can study the archives, to see how much time was spent already to keep that article without a little informative box. Waste of time, if you ask me. I turned to writing my "own", with an infobox, of course. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:53, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Gerda Arendt Where can I read that? - Joaquin89uy (talk) 14:14, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You go to the talk where you posed your question, and search for the word archive, and I saw four of them last time I looked. I believe that even reading is a waste of time but it may give you a feeling for the timesink which has been labelled the infobox wars, dating back to 2005 which is well before I joined. I believe they were over by 2018 the latest, but will will still find fighters. Nikkimaria isn't a fighter but she preserves the infobox-less states. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:32, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Gerda Arendt Sorry, maybe i didnt communicate properly. What I meant was , where can I read your own bio of Ezra with an infobox? Or is it also part of those archives you mention? - Joaquin89uy (talk) 14:35, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
sorry, I wasn't clear enough: I write my "own" articles but not about Ezra Pound, more about music and their creators, - see my user page. I just leave him to those who care. I briefly looked at the archives: all four have an infobox discussion, or two. Waste of time, all of them, - shaking head ... --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:39, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Lol. I will later check those out, then. Im currently going through some interesting users' archives, particularly of deceased users. I stumbled through Aaron Swartz's one and also "SlimVirgin"'s. (I know it has nothing to do with this, but its interesting nonetheless so i thought id share lol). - Joaquin89uy (talk) 14:56, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Aaron Swartz was before I got interested in users, but SlimVirgin - her death still hurts. Look for my name on her talk. Much better reading than the nonsense of infobox "discussions"!! Victoriaearle was her close friend, and one of the key editors for Pound, as was SlimVirgin - small world. She actually once added an infobox here. She comes and goes, always be gentle with her, please. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:19, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Will do :) Have you seen Aaron's documentary by any chance? - Joaquin89uy (talk) 15:25, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, sorry. I was on vacation, and am busy with articles of two people who just died, and that's a job that can't wait. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:06, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. - Joaquin89uy (talk) 16:24, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What happened is, I wasn't knowledgeable enough about the subject to maybe do a perfect translation of the event that occurred. In "Google Translate", the word "turbonada" (which is what our press called the phenomenon which happened here), translates as "Squall", and as English is only but a second language for me, I am not knowledgeable enough about technical stuff such as this to know a "squall" and a "derecho" were not necessarily the same thing. Cheers. - Joaquin89uy (talk) 17:19, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
