Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Zibby Allen, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 05:26, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Place the source at the end of the sentence, inside <ref></ref> tags. As long as a link to the online source is provided, or the title of the magazine/book/newspaper is clear, other editors can tweak the formatting. —C.Fred (talk) 22:41, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Blocking

[edit]

In response to this message at my talk page:

I was wondering this: It appears that you have had to deal with some rogue IP's lately, and that temporary blocking was involved. If I ever come across a Wikipedian who is continually vandalizing articles, how do I warn them and eventually create a temporary block? I hope I never have to do this, but I should know. Mallen22 (talk) 01:21, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WP:TUSER has a list of warning templates. There are warnings for various types of problematic edits, including adding unsourced material, adding opinions or personal point of view, and vandalism. Many of the warnings come in four levels, from a friendly note about the situation (level 1, like {{uw-joke1}}) to a final warning that a block may result if they do it again (level 4, like {{uw-vandalism4}}). The usual procedure is to give a level 1 warning on the first occurrence (and add {{subst:welcome}} at the top of the page too—a welcome message with general instructions), level 2 if they repeat, then level 3, then level 4. If they're still keeping it up after a level 4 warning, then you can report them at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism (WP:AIV); an administrator will review the situation and, if appropriate, block the user.

If the situation is a violation of the three revert rule, then the warning template is {{subst:uw-3rr}}. If they make a fourth revert, then report them at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring (WP:ANEW). (Make sure you haven't violated the three revert rule yourself, lest you also get blocked.)

Hope that helps. If you have any more questions, let me know. —C.Fred (talk) 01:58, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the question. As the submission indicated, your AfC was declined because the sources for the article are not reliable. For more information I would recommend reading WP:REF and Wikipedia:Verifiability. For further questions, feel free to talk to me again. Rushbugled13 (talk) 02:21, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I am a Teahouse host and I noticed your question about this article there. The biggest problem with your references is that none are independent of the subject of the article. For a biographical article to be accepted at Wikipedia, you have to have at least two independent reliable sources to reference the person's notability. Wikipedia really only wants to publish about what others are writing about the subject of your article. You can source basic info, like sex and residence and possibly age, to a site connected to your subject, but you need info from articles published about her in newspapers magazines and books to establish notability. The filmography chart needs to be referenced also, but I would assume she has an IMDb page and you can use that as your reference. That is about all you can reference to IMDb however. Since it is user edited like Wikipedia, it is not considered a really reliable source. Strangely enough, you cannot use Wikipedia itself as a source either, for the same reason. Hope this info is helpful and I urge you to return to Teahouse if there are any other questions we can answer for you. Happy editing! Gtwfan52 (talk) 03:42, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Fay Wolf, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Fairfield and One Tree Hill (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

File permission problem with File:Zibby Allen 2014.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Zibby Allen 2014.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. January (talk) 18:32, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
