I require a semi-protect status for the article on artist Quentin Elias. It appears that someone close to the artist (manger?) is vandalizing the page and removing referenced material. • No Tom, I don't think that we have interacted before, but who knows I could be wrong. The norm now in Wikipedia is that the person's nationality or citizenship (in accordance to where he/she was born; hence American, Puerto Rican, Dominican and so on) be mentioned in the subjects article introduction and not their ethnicity (African-American; Polish-American and so on).

1. In the cases of Roger Sanchez, Lynda Baquero, they were both born in the United States, therefore the proper thing would be to mention them as "Americans" of either Dominican or Puerto Rican descent in the intro. and mention that their parents were from so and so place within the article. This does not keep them from being added to the "Lists", of "Puerto Ricans" or "Dominicans" because the rules in regard to the "lists" indicate that people of so and so descent can be listed there.

2. In the case of Micaela Nevarez, she was born in Puerto Rico and therefore in the intro. she can be listed as a Puerto Rican since "Puerto Rican" is a nationality and not an ethnicity, recognized by the Supreme Court.

• • Tom, what do you think? I feel that a subject's heritage should be incorporated into the biography if references can be provided. Hispanic-Americans are extremely happy of their roots, even if they were born in the USA. (e/c) Ethnicity should not be included in the lead per WP:MOSBIO unless it has to do with their notability. So descent should not be in the lead unless it is why they are notable. Correct? Good! It is agreed that "ethnicity" will not be mentioned in the intro. even though it can be mentioned within the article. Agreed. Also, if a person holds dual citizenship, that is fine in the lead as long as it is sourced. Thanks, I got the Commandant of the Marine Corps also. The Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps is also up for review as is the MOH lists for African Americans and Jewish Americans. I need your feedback on an edit war regarding this article. The opposing party says that Puerto Rico can't sign agreements with other nations, which is not true as Fortuno just signed an economic/tourism agreement with the Dominican Republic. Hertell helped Sila Calderon signed a similar agreement with the DR regarding illegal migration. It appeared in a print edition of El Nuevo Dia that I no longer have. The June 4 agreement between President Fernández and Governor Fortuño was signed in Aguadilla in the presence of the United States Chargé D'Affaires Ad Interim in the Dominican Republic (the US "acting ambassador) after being consulted with the U.S. State Department, according to an interview on Radio Isla with Secretary of State MacClintock. Is there anyway to put a protection on this article? An anonymous user keeps destroying it with entries that contain pointless info and bad grammar. His edits are highly unconstructive. I'm getting ready to get my first professional license, which is proving to be an annoyance due to the revalida. Anyways, I'm planning to move back home in a few months, probably September, to enroll at the Recinto de Ciencias Medicas of the UPR. In the meanwhile, I will try to keep a few articles updated and clean, but that will most likely be limited to the boxing pages. That's about it in a nutshell. It will be a long journey, in my field a baccalaureate takes five years to complete "the traditional way", I intend to challenge a few classes if possible. You have a terrific detective ability, you figured the whole flag issue before anyone else. By the way, I recently heard that some moron tried to open a country-wide issue by pushing the "dark variety" flag as the official version. Also, some guy with an evident conflict of interest keeps pasting a out-of-place gallery and redundant information to Tito Trinidad's page. I removed it and explained it in my edit summary since that is a good article, yet he already reverted me twice ignoring my explanation. He is hellbent and clearly associated to the boxer that he keeps promoting in Trinidad's article, it as simple as looking at his user page, but I'm not going to edit war. One last thing: Thanks. For serving the nation. For allowing me and others like me to enjoy the songs and fireworks and other festivities of our Independence Day. Its due in no small part to men like yourself, who served the States to protect the freedom of those in the states. Its an important and often overlooked part of our national celebrations on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day. Even though this fact is paraded in our country daily I feel that it falls on deaf ears, and at times I feel like I am the only one to remember that these holidays are only possible because of the sacrifices men like yourself have made. I wanted to let you know that I submitted the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps article for FLC. If you happen to get some time please feel free to check it out and let me know if you have any comments. I admit the references are a little lean but hopefully it will do ok. Not much reference material out there for the Assisants. I know you don't really care about the whole Good or featured article thing but I wanted to let you know since they are USMC related. Also, I already got the Commandant of the Marine Corps and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps (with help from others) as well as several of the Medal of Honor recipients lists to FL status. Editorial: How to prepare an A-Class Review Perhaps the most important—and, indeed, most respected—aspect of the Military History project is our rigorous A-Class Review (ACR) system, which puts articles through the most robust review outside of WP:FAC. Although reviewing might seem daunting to newcomers, this article will give you an outline of three popular reviewing methods so you can actually start contributing yourself. General nit-pick - this is one of the easiest - and one of the most common - reviewing styles seen throughout Wikipedia. It is a similar approach to that you would see in proofreading and classroom marking. Basically, it is a general overview of the article, not getting too specific on aspects of the prose. The most common statements include This article could benefit from a light copyedit before going to FAC or You might want to check the endash and emdash placement in the article. It's a style that is incredibly easy to manage, and one that requires little-to-no experience in previous reviewing. Specialization - it often is the case that those who have been reviewing articles for a long time will move away from the general review towards more specific areas of articles. As an example, Tony usually stays within the realm of prose and copyediting while reviewing Featured Article Candidates, Tom used to focus almost entirely on external links and disambiguations, while others specialize their focus exclusively on copyediting, reference formatting, dashes, punctuation and flow, image licensing, and a host of other areas. This is a review method that is not nearly as time-consuming as other methods, as it allows you to quickly scan an article, spot the things that you work on, and how they need to be fixed. Sectional - My preferred style of reviewing, this is one of the most informative styles. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most time-consuming and exhaustive styles. Essentially, it involves going through the entire article, section by section, and pointing out every major (and often many of the minor) flaws present within each section. Everything from prose to reference formatting to content. It is a reviewing style that is exhausting, and often takes two or three goes through the article to get everything (sometimes even more), but it gives the article's main contributors two benefits. First, everything is well organized, mostly under section headers like this one, and it often makes finding individual sentences or refs much easier, as they are within that section. Now enters Sotomayor, a puertorican from the Bronx, her father didn't even speak English, an immigrant force by Muñoz and his master plan of mass immigration of the poor.I just think Sotomayor story its amazing (maybe I'm making a big deal out of it). Talking about Muñoz, I'm still mad at him, he had el jibaro under his arm, he was the one that could have declare Puerto Rico independence, he could have made la independencia something of a household name, mainstream, but he was blown away by the American system, he was blown away by the american dream como un pendejo. Hey Tony, can you take a look at this page: President's Task Force on Puerto Rico's Status. I ran across it recently and wanted to do some work on it (which I have just begun). The weird thing about it, is that it doesn't seem to be able to be linked to- which is why I didn't bother to wikilink it just now. If you type it into the search field, you aren't taken directly to it, instead provided with the usual offer to create the page accompanied by a list of possible alternatives in case it exists. Right at the top of that list- the very same article with the very same wording and capitalization! I'm perplexed- I am hoping you can use your admin magic to fix it. Tony for the last three months unregistered users editing the article for singer Maxwell (musician) have been changing his ancestry. I have told them to not list him as Haitian because many say he is of Trinadian ancestry on his mother's side (his father was Puerto Rican). I would like to request a block for all unregistered users for this article. You can see the history of the article where I have ask unregistered users to keep ancestry neutral until a reliable source could be found, but no luck. A Corsican from Barrio Indio, I exchanged emails with him on Caribbean history several years ago it turns out he was USAF not marine now that I found a Wiki bio for him.

My interpretation of Cofresi is that the reason he revolted against the Spaniards is that he had purchased a cargo in Santo Domingo and the crown put import duties on it because in the interval of sailing the prior colony had become independent with the assistance of Colombia. Rather than accept having to pay a duty on goods that were Spanish when he bought them he felt that the Colombians might be able to support a similar independence of Puerto Rico. The Colombians were issuing letters of marque to privateers and in his opinion he was one.

In this edit you say "moved Hila Levy to Hila Levy (Rhodes scholar): There are more then one Hila Levy's". Well, as it happens, it's over a year since you created the article, and she is still the only notable Hila Levy.
Also, being awarded a Rhodes Scholarship is not, in and of itself, sufficient to justify notability. (However "Hila Levy (First Puerto Rican awarded a Rhodes Scholarship)" is a bit of a mouthful!!)
And, of course, one would expect, (or at least I would), that in a decade or two she will be notable for more than being the first Puerto Rican to be awarded a Rhodes Scholarship ...

Hello Pdfpdf, thank you for mentioning your concern in my tlak page. Thanks to you I found out that soemone blanked and created a redirect page of Hila Levy which is intended to be a disambiguation page. I fixed it. The reason for the disambiguation is that there are two people with the exact same name even if one does not have an article. Hila Levy, made history when she became the first Puerto Rican to be awarded a Rhodes scholarship and has been featured in various newspaper articles as such. You've explained the disambiguation page need quite well, and I agree.

Regarding notability, if you re-read my post, you'll see that I completely agree that Hila's achievement, and Hila, are "notable". That wasn't my point.

My point is, Hila is not notable because she is a Rhodes scholar. (She's notable because she is the first Puerto Rican ... ). So, I'm not altogether sure that "Hila Levy (Rhodes scholar)" is a good name for her page, and I AM fairly sure that it is NOT the BEST name for her page.

What I am not sure about is, what IS the best name for her page.

As I said, "Hila Levy (First Puerto Rican awarded a Rhodes Scholarship)" is a bit of a mouthful!!

Hence, my question "Your thoughts?" was about a better name for her page.

Sorry, didn't know about that rule, I hadn't visited that article since way back. I decided to leave Santos P. Amadeo, since his role in legal history in Puerto Rico assures his notability, added a ref, hope that is sufficient to met the established criteria, let me know if it doesn't.

Also I removed Baudilio Vega Berríos and Charles Henry Juliá Barreras since those 2 articles are still in there infancy, I plan to expand them along the way. I added a reference to the Miguel A. García Méndez sentence about the post office. Anyway thanks for the heads up. Hope you are well.
