Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you.--Proofreader J-Man 05:29, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You stated on the GAN page that you were reviewing the Survivor Man page. That was five days ago, and I just wanted to check if you are still reviewing it. Mastrchf (t/c) 18:21, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to go ahead and take the review marker off of the page. I still would welcome your review on the page, but I would like to try to clear up the backlog of the page. Mastrchf (t/c) 04:37, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, I started, but I didn't think it posted, and I stopped. Sorry. Host of the first ever Webkinz Suvivor! The UberNerd! (talk) 20:36, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Help!

[edit]

Hi, I saw you asking User:Juthani1 for help, and I have the answer to your question. What you have to do to move a userpage into article space is click Move on the top of the page and enter the new name of the article, i.e. without User:Spider1224/. However, I looked at your article and I do not think that it conforms to Wikipedia's WP:Notability standards. It also does not have any WP:references independent of the topic. My suggestion would be to WP:Merge the page into Webkinz, which can be done in this case by cutting and pasting the Features section to the main article. Just ask if you have any other questions. Cheers, Reywas92Talk 00:39, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can help you create it. Where is it right now? Let me proof edit it first and then I can help you post it. You really think I experienced, thanks :)    Juthani1   tcs 22:38, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I edited the page you directed me to. It needs sources. Thats all. On Wikipedia, you need to verify things with sources. If you don't then anyone (without any knowledge) can add false information. Sources back up the article. The best sources for wikipedia are other websites. Find some and post them on my talk page and I will put them in.    Juthani1   tcs 20:10, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Around the World

[edit]

What exactly is this? Can you please explain? Thanks! spider1224 11:19, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One of the projects on Wikipedia is the building of a topic outline of knowledge That's right, an outline of all of human knowledge, in the form of a hierarchy of topics. And of course, wherever possible, the topics are linkified.  :)
A subproject of that currently underway is the development of the branch of the geographical portion of the outline dedicated to all the countries of the world. Each country has a page in the outline currently under development.
Around the World is an event that is currently in preparation as a joint collaboration between the Lists of basic topics WikiProject and the Geography WikiProject, which shall focus efforts upon developing the portion of the outline pertaining to countries. It's going to be a competition between editors using advanced wikitools (such as WP:AWB, Linky, etc.).
Rather than work on one country at a time, each participant shall work on a particular type of information, filling it in for all the countries of the world, and sort of taking a trip "Around the World" in the process.
It's just a fun way to work on these pages, which are in need of a large number of volunteers to complete them.
Twenty-four of the pages are near completion, and have been moved to the main namespace:
Countries: List of basic Albania topicsList of basic Argentina topicsList of basic Australia topicsList of basic Canada topicsList of basic Ecuador topicsList of basic Egypt topicsList of basic France topicsList of basic Germany topicsList of basic Iceland topicsList of basic India topicsList of basic Indonesia topicsList of basic Iran topicsList of basic Iraq topicsList of basic Republic of Ireland topicsList of basic Italy topicsList of basic Isle of Man topicsList of basic Israel topicsList of basic Japan topicsList of basic Macau topicsList of basic Mexico topicsList of basic Russia topicsList of basic Taiwan topicsList of basic United Kingdom topicsList of basic United States topics
A team of editors is currently preparing the competition for participants, including the creation of awards to be presented, and getting the rest of the pages in the set ready enough to move into the main namespace.
And that's just to get the pages ready for the competition, which will focus on things like fixing redlinks (called "bluelinking"), adding population and area information, filling in the names of the head of government and the head of state for each country, adding a particular kind of map, particular theme of photos (into various sections), and many more tasks required of every page in the set.
The entire set of pages is listed here.
Status report:
  • One of the images for the three awards is ready. We are looking for experienced graphics artists to help on the other two.
  • Before we can move the rest of the pages into the main namespace, their leads need to be refined, and the temporary "placeholder" (incorrect) data in the regions and government branches sections need to be replaced with actual (correct) data.
As soon as our preparations are complete, the competition will begin!
I hope my explanation has been informative and inspirational, and I hope you plan to participate in the competition.  ;) How many times "around the world" can you go?
We're also looking for coordinators to help run the event (and these editors are also the ones responsible for preparing for the event), if you feel up to it.
Thank you for inquiring.
Have fun on Wikipedia.
Cheers.

No experience needed

[edit]

Instruction will be provided for anyone who needs help getting started with the tools. Also, most of the tasks can be done without advanced tools, but once you start using them, you won't believe you lived without them!

Also, I'll be providing easy-to-follow instructions for most of the tasks.

For example, see User_talk:Mifter#What's next?

Go for it.

Just a little note to say thankyou for participating in my successful RFA candidacy, which passed with 96 supports, 0 opposes, and 1 neutral. I am pleasantly taken aback by the amount of support for me to contribute in an administrative role and look forward to demonstrating that such faith is well placed. Motto of the day

[edit]

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 03:34, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pittsburgh event for Wikipedia's tenth anniversary

[edit]

Hi! Since you're listed as a Wikipedian in Pittsburgh, I wanted to invite you to the Wikipedia Tenth Anniversary celebrations we're having in Pittsburgh on Saturday, January 15. During the daytime, we're going to be having a photo contribution drive where anyone can bring in their digital photos or prints and Wikipedians will teach people how to upload them and add them to articles, and maybe introduction to Wikipedia workshops as well. Then in the evening, we'll have fun at the Carson City Saloon. There will be free Wikipedia t-shirts and other goodies, as well. See the Pittsburgh meetup page for more details. I hope to see you there!--ragesoss (talk) 15:28, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may have noticed over the past few days that the MOTD that you link to on your user page has simply displayed a red link. This is due to the fact that not enough people are reviewing pending MOTDs here. Please help us keep the MOTD template alive and simply go and review a few of the MOTDs in the list. That way we can have a real MOTD in the future rather than re-using (This space for rent). Any help would be appreciated! ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 14:09, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014

[edit]

Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This message has been sent by pjoef on behalf of Motto of the Day to all editors of the English Wikipedia who are showing MOTD's templates on their pages, and to all the participants to MOTD: (page, template, and category).
