Thank you! I do not expected such a quick review. Though I expect for it to not been accepted as there were little to none secondary source available. So, should I left this draft until more information prevails, or do you have any suggestions. That would be greatly appreciate. Thitut (talk) 15:05, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

sfn means 'smart footnotes'

[edit]

Hi, Thitut! Noticed this edit on the Ingenuity page. Presumably you did not understood what you did by returning this common <ref name="flight14preview">. Let me explain you. The common-style reference included in this footnote contains:

  • Grip, Håvard (September 15, 2021). "Flying on Mars Is Getting Harder and Harder". Mars Helicopter Tech Demo. NASA. Retrieved 18 September 2021.

while the 'sfn'-style that you deleted ({{sfn|Status 334}}>) was addressing to this position in the organized 'status reports' section of the bibliographic section:

Destination of both links is the same. However, your link is visible buried among ~150 other footnotes with almost no chance to be used by readers to follow up the other reports on 'Ingenuity' At the same time the 'smart' note is called smart not only because it helps to save a hundred of bytes and makes the text more readable in the edit mode. It is called 'smart' also because it introduces a civilized way of creating bibliographic list synchronously.

I shall not revert your edit. I've already invested too much time for improving this article in en-wiki. For me it's enough, that the same article in ru-wiki has recently got the status WP:GA, so I don't have plans to become a sort of watchdog for edits in its en-wiki version. On the contrary, I hope (and wish) you first to read the explanation, what the Template:SfnRef does, and rollback this edit yourself, only on the basis of full understanding of what you delete. — Regards, Cherurbino (talk) 09:14, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oh! I’m sorry. It’s entirely my fault and I should have read the Template documentation first. My sincere apologies here. I will be sure to revert it as soon as possible. I just working on my own translation (Thai) and noticed that the version I copied is different from what it’s now and I thought someone had broken the reference. Thank you very much for an explanation and I shall make sure such mistake doesn’t happen again. Also thanks for your contribution in both English and Russian Wikipedia. I don’t think people said this enough but your contribution help create something truly noble and I think that the more frequent Wikipedian had not been thanked enough. So thank you. And sorry if I contribute to your WikiStress — With my sincerest apology, Thitut (talk) 10:36, 8 October 2021 (UTC) Thitut (talk) 10:36, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
