Why are you reverting my attempt to fulfill the criteria for a citation (9/11 Truth Movement) and describing it as 'vandalism'? Someone wants citations to show that events have occurred and groups convene on listserves. How is providing the links to show those consitute 'vandalism'? 198.207.168.65 23:53, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nick , thank you for you wellcome greetings.--Herbilate 00:53, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help! I need somebody, not just anybody...

[edit]

If a page is created and then redirected to a page that was created after it (and the latter is a NPOV issue), is it warranted to redirect the latter page to the elder page? I know this may sound confusing, but thank you. See Wally the Green Monster and Wally (mascot) for reference. Yanksox 15:33, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No. This is the kind of situations that leads to edit wars, which just serves to disrupt Wikipedia. Add a NPOV tag to the article in question, and raise the issue on the talkpage of the other editor instead. Hope this helps, if not, don't hesitate to contact me!Bjelleklang - talk 15:37, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also if you look at the external link the Wally the Green Monster is the more correct name even if the newer article is fannish. By the way thanks for all the speedy delete tags. I've been going through your conributions and deleted several articles. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 15:42, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You've tagged that as CSD G4 (reposting of previously deleted content). However, that particular page doesn't have any deleted history. Could you please let me know where it was previously posted? Cheers, Petros471 08:47, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can't seem to find it. Anyway most of the other related articles are passing through AFD or PROD so they should be cleared out soon. Cheers, Petros471 15:18, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability Flag

[edit]

I posted the below on the Help page and got an answer that says I should ask you?

I've been a very limited contributor up to now (just minor edits on existing pages) but yesterday decided I'd help with some of the redline links in subject areas I have some knowledge on, so I followed the redlink after searching wikipedia to make sure it wasn't under an alternate spelling and created my stub article. I'd just made one save and then it took some time for me to locate some templates I needed to use for citing my sources, came back and it already had a notability tag appended to the top. I added my sources anyway, and continued beefing up the article, but didn't know how to address this and I couldn't find an answer on the notability page. Do I just delete that tag now that I have sources? I'm very confused. Especially since I wasn't creating a page out of thin air on a person but rather followed a redlink from an article someone else had written. The page is Joseph Nicholson Barney and the redlink was from CSS Jamestown. My area of expertise is on the Confederate Navy and I can really help with fleshing this out, but don't want to continue fleshing this new article out or clear up more redlinks if my work will just be deleted.... --plange 16:46, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Good question. I'd say in this case that you did the right thing by finishing the article up; you've now made a good case for it. That tag doesn't mean that the article is in the process of being deleted, but rather that somebody thinks it might not be noteworthy (and thus possibly deletable in the future). If I were you, I would consider asking whoever put the tag on what they think of the article now, and remove the tag if you don't get a reply. You also might consider adding anything else the individual is notable for; was there a particular battle in which he played a key role? -- SCZenz 17:00, 28 May 2006 (UTC) Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:New_contributors%27_help_page"

IT portfolio management

[edit]

Can you please help me understand why you think IT portfolio management is an advert?

Can you help me - someone just deleted it! I spent a lot of time on that article. Charles T. Betz 16:50, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It returned briefly, now it's gone again. Technical issues w/server caching? How would I see who deleted it? It's not in the delete logs that I can see. Thanks. Charles T. Betz 17:00, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I think you just made my point look so much better by pointing out that Michael Axelrod did not do anything nearly important enough. Where, oh where should we draw the line? I dunno, but Axelrod has to go. :) - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 19:05, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't mean to be a Grammar nazi, but I noticed that you have posted several questions to Wikipedia:Requests for adminship, spelling optional incorrectly as opitional. Just pointing it out since you even made a change regarding grammar. joturner 01:34, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

X-Files edit.

[edit]

Thanks for looking out for vandalism, but I think the edit you reverted on the X-Files page was a valid edit. Japanese words are commonly taken straight from English words and altered to fit the syllabary system using Katakana. These words are called Gairaigo. I don't want an edit war, so I am letting you know now. - Zepheus 23:58, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that. I went ahead and put a note by that entry that links to the Gairaigo page for clarification. That whole page is going to get a massive cleansing quite soon, and hopefully that whole list will be extricated anyway, but for now, I guess I'll keep it in shape. *shrugs* Sidenote: Isn't VandalProof awesome? I just starting using it a couple of days ago, and now I actually enjoy trolling for vandals. - Zepheus 00:05, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, though I can't quite tell if it's tongue in cheek... - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 05:33, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I am glad that you're happy, though I am not sure you're learning from the right wikipedian. In general, {{empty}} is only for a rephrasing of title or a page entirely composed of links. If it's a name of a QB and his stats and his date of birth - it's not empty. Thanks again for the duck. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 06:08, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Afds

[edit]

Thanks for helping close some of these. Are you aware that there's an {{afd top}} that's distinct from {{tfd top}} - they're a subtly different shade of pastel, and you've been using the darker one where the lighter one should be. Keep up the good work! Flowerparty 06:03, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About Santoonie Reliable Source

[edit]

Out of three genres of Santoonie, only one may be approved as reliable source I imagine, or would hope. Santoonie is a publisher of Interactive Fiction , so reliable sources would be ifcomp.org. Um, the other aspects of santoonie are borderline personal website/blogish. Yahoo sites 368 hits for search santoonie, so a wiki may provide usefullness to some. If it doesnt deserve a wiki, its all good., np.

Hi yanksox, I think you are misunderstanding me, I just deleted a page called "Vaginafaceitus" I found this rather offensive and useless.

[edit]

You want to know something weird? I was reading through the other RfAs on the page just to see what people were doin', and read your comment, and thought to myself, "Wow, that sounds pretty awful. I wonder HighinBC did?" And clicked. And about jumped out of my skin when I saw my user name.

I respectfully reserve the right to draft a more formal answer if you put it on the RfA proper, but informally: my guess is that the goof arose from my relative newbieness at that time, not realizing at the time that it really wasn't kosher to do anything to people's user pages, even if it was a beneficial edit. I would never do that nowadays, and, coincidentally, I have a supportive example from this week: [1]. — WCityMike (talk • contribs) 05:53, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ignore All Rules will create a quagmire

[edit]

Fascinating. It's a rule that's been with us since 2001 or aroundabouts. :-)

The reason ignore all rules works is because we're humans, not robots. No robot is yet capable of doing what humans can. That's why we don't want to force humans to act like robots.

"Wikipedia is doomed" on a day to day basis, but because people are able to act flexibly and intelligently, we're still around after all these years. :-) Kim Bruning 20:05, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking Editor Review Commentary (If You Like)

[edit]

Hi. In conjunction with my RfA (that you voted on), I have created an editor review, to give people a chance to comment as to ways in which I can branch out or alter my contributions to Wikipedia. An RfA seems to solely focus on how one's temperment and contributions relate to how they might handle administrative powers (and the consensus on that seems to be that I'm not quite ready); the editor review opens things up a little more to a larger focus, and I'd love to hear community feedback in the sense of that larger focus, too. If you feel you've already expressed yourself sufficiently when casting your vote, then by all means don't worry about it, but if any thoughts come to mind or if you'd like to expound upon any suggestions or commentary, it would be appreciated. In any case, I appreciated you taking the time to express your opinion on my RfA, and I thank you for that. — WCityMike (talk • contribs) 19:55, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nick,

Hmm... I'm not fully sure how to do this, but it's an attempt. Of course I forgive you. You know how much I care about you. I don't want you to be going through such a rough stretch - I will do anything I can to help you. I would do anything for you, as you know. You are my best friend and the love of my life. I was a little bit hurt, but it's OK now. Everything is fine. I love you and you love me and that's all that matters. What's in the past is in the past, and our future is so beautiful.

I love you.

Using {{userfy}}

[edit]

I have seen you using this template a lot. I take a looks at "What links here" for that template every day for a new load of CSD bait. Let me clarify that to copy info to the userspace no process is required - you can go ahead and just do it if you think it's warranted. What you do need process for is deleting the stuff from articlespace, see WP:UFY. So if you see a {{db-bio}}, mark it "db|a7, already userfied" or some such other tag. But sticking a userfy tag on it just means that someone else (read, me) comes along to do the same things a few hours later. BTW, you've been incredible at fighting wikicrap. Take frequent breaks - or it could get to you. Maybe edit some decent articles every now and again to remind yourself that not everything here is profanity, vanity, and inanity :) - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 19:33, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you extremely much for your note. As you may have noticed, Joe (User:Jahiegel) has already begun a nomination. Joe and I have already discussed my nomination, and at this point he's got first dibs. There's one more reason - he's been here since January, and you essentially started editing in earnest in May. It would be a lot better to be nominated by a more experienced user, but feel free to co-nominate me. I have asked Joe to start it in about a week's time because I am starting a new job on Monday. Your massive delete

[edit]

Hello. I noticed that you deleted much of the information on the Mary Ward Catholic Secondary School page.[3] I do feel that some of the information there (mainly Departments, Amenities, Sports, Intramurals) deserved to be deleted because more or less the same could be said about most other secondary schools in North America. However, as a self-directed school, it is quite unique (the terminology is quite unique, I believe), and some of its groups are of note (e.g. Free The Children, which is founded by a former student). This is why I would like to discuss with you: what to keep, what to delete, and perhaps relevant policies such as WP:V. Can we discuss this on the talk page, in case anybody else browsing the page may have comments? --70.25.168.90 04:09, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do plan on, at some point in the future (although, I think, not the near future), attempting the process again, and I hope you will consider participating in that voting process as well. On 102, not yet. I must admit, I haven't seen much of their stuff, though I am curious. Hi, I wanted to let you know that I removed the {{db-bio}} tag that you placed on the above article, because that criteria does not apply to fictional characters. I think you could make a case that it should be deleted, but it would have to be via the WP:PROD or WP:AFD processes. Personally, I'm thinking it makes sense to redirect this article, but I was going to give the contributor a day or two to see if he further develops it. Juryrigged!

[edit]

Lawl, I don't believe it. I juryrigged my wireless card with a metal spring from my desk lamp taking the place of the antenna. It works...albeit sporadically. I'ma ghetto genius. :D --HubHikari 20:33, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You'd best BELIEVE it. I'm insaayyyyne. --HubHikari 20:37, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Damn, my juryrig is still working. Normally it conks out for awhile by now... --HubHikari 20:40, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

[edit]

You've no reason at all to feel bad; I rather neglected Crz's prospective RfA, and you prodded me to return to it. I finished my nom (Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Crzrussian), and I'll let Alexander determine whether mine is of exorbitant length; if he elects to use yours solely, I'd have no problem at all. In any event, I ought to reiterate that I didn't think you to have acted untowardly at all, and I was in no way offended by your editing the quasi-abandoned RfA. It's all, as we say, good... :) Joe 21:37, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Wow

Sure thing! After dinner, though... I'm famished. And as it's going to be ready in a minute, I think I'd need more time. =) Love, Sable

Co-nom

[edit]

If you intend to go on with the co-nom, please shorten it a lot, as co-noms are traditionally expected to be short, and re-date-stamp it. Thanks. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 02:31, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, I am 100% ok with it. Only w/d it if you really want - it doesn't bother me at all - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 02:34, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Dude - are you ok? This is the fourth apology in 24 hours! You're scaring me. Wanna feel jealous? I am going to see Big Unit v. Wild Wakefield at the Stadium on Thursday! For real! All while they vote on my adminship. Will report # of passed balls - hehe!!! I love Wakefield! - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 06:04, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Pedro v. Mussina - 2003? 8 2/3 inning perfect game loss? I cried....... I was on my knees in front of the 50" TV... I cried...... - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 06:08, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have to admit, that was fast. The page wasnt even five minutes old (if that). Just wondering why you think it should be deleted. It was a list moved from another page, and long lists, especially that long, should have there own page. Obviously it is not a finished box yet. Anyways, just curious becasue nothing was posted on talk page.--Gephart 06:23, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WOW, you should be working at CERN or Fermi Labs, because you apparently have discovered how to do things at or close to the speed of light! Anyways, thanks for the response. I am going to go ahead and remove the tag for now, just so it doesnt get deleted and i lose all that hard work from constructing that info box, and i will try to finish it within the next week (I have finals all week, so it may take a week or two). I guess i just created that page to take the long, gaudy looking list off the main article page, but if you think it should go back, i can live with that. Anyways, thanks again!--Gephart 06:33, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RCAP

[edit]

Someone keeps telling me that this article should be moved to Wikibooks. It's already there, I mailed the guy that did that. Nobody will find it when it is in Wikibooks, that is why I want to keep it in Wikipedia.

Thanks

[edit]

Thank you for the welcome; I hope I wikified my first article to your satisfaction. Kalahanne 12:58, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again! : )

In terms of deletion? I wouldn't. He's not the most notable crime victim in the world, but the article is sourced and the effort was considerable. There obviously was lots of coverage. We're not paper. In term of cleanup, of course! :) - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 13:45, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

[edit]

Thank you for supporting me in my recently unsuccessful RfA. I plan on working harder in the coming months so that I have a better chance of becoming an admin in the future. I hope that you will consider supporting me if I have another RfA. Thank you for your support. --digital_me(t/c) 15:24, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for reverting the vandalism on my User page. I notice you've been quite active in fighting vandalism, so I'm going to award you this barnstar. Thanks again. --Scott 20:08, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism!?

Just wanted to let you know...

[edit]

With your observation that "one of my pages is a red link" on my RfA, that's because the user pgk kept reverting my correction of the link. Blame him. :) aido2002 21:21, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you proposed this article for deletion. This company is very large and is notable. There are a number of other companies of this type that have articles on wiki-Reid A. 03:20, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Yanksox! I added my endorsement to your Prod of the above article, with a rationale describing a walled garden of articles and naming them. If the prod is removed, I imagine you will likely take the article to afd. Just wanted to inform you of the garden so that if the prod is removed, you would know about them all for a combined afd. I would prod the rest of them but I have got to go to bed.--Fuhghettaboutit 04:18, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No different than other external sites listed

[edit]

YankSox - another rookie here...if I provide a more specific link - just for my original category (the Sox) - then I don't see how my site is any different from the other guys there. Frankly - I've been posting a hell of a lot longer than them (Oct '03) and I have little if any adverts on the site. I know you've heard it before, but Oct '03 is when I started... Hell some of the sites listed haven't covered the team in a month! If you go thru some old posts, you'll find some pretty important real writers that read my site. But I'm not one to name drop...It's not just self promotion, I've got Google for that. Don't let the crap interface and the fancy dns record fool you. CSB 04:28, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not Fishy - Same user and the guy who started the site. I didn't realize I didn't have an account when I made the change (thus the rookie mistake)CSB 04:33, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You could use the category link off the site to narrow it down - I'm not pushing the main site - just the Sox content. CSB 04:40, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you placed a speedy delete tag on the above-named article. Just to let you know, Tjeffs, the article's original author (and, apparently, the article's subject), removed your speedy tag and replaced it with a hang-on tag. I put the speedy tag back, and placed a warning on Tjeffs' discussion page, as well as on the discussion page of the article. ---Charles 18:45, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. I see the article has already been deleted. I guess his hang-on tag did him little good. ---Charles 18:48, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
