Retarget; I agree with silvia on this one. I'm not knowledgeable on Sonic, but from what I'm reading so far, ideally, this would belong in List of Sonic the Hedgehog characters if we can get an entry on Tornado.InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 00:24, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The tornado is an airplane in the series. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 12:17, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The character list has a "2 major roles" inclusion criteria, and I fail to see how an airplane would ever satisfy that for a character article. (To be clear here, we're not talking about some sort of sentient, Thomas the Tank Engine type airplane here. It's just a regular ol' vehicle.) Sergecross73 msg me 16:54, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Annoying Dog

[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. Undertale now mentions "Annoying Dog". Legoktm (talk) 02:44, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Could refer to any annoying dog like Scrappy-Doo or Dog (Duck Hunt). It is also not mentioned in the article. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 23:23, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget Names are case-sensitive, so "Annoying Dog" in caps absolutely is linked to Undertale. However, I think it should be retargeted to Toby Fox as his author insert and something about it added to the article, citing a primary source like the game's Greenlight Trailer. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 19:50, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Zxcvbnm: I did not understand the reasoning for the Toby Fox retargeting, specifically the part his author insert and something about it added to the article, citing a primary source like the game's Greenlight Trailer. Are you suggesting that a mention should be added to the Toby Fox article? Jay 💬 13:55, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's true, but I'm not sure if an RS covers that the dog represents Fox within the game. If you can find an RS though, I'll support a potential retarget. InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 00:09, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, the game's Greenlight trailer is a primary source that Toby Fox uses the Annoying Dog as his avatar (the dog literally says "I'm Toby Fox, creator of Undertale"), so I think that at least a mention of it can be added given that Toby Fox himself is a notable subject. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 06:27, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguate. Many video games have annoying dogs. I'll try to find I've found an RS that covers Undertale's Annoying Dog; GameRant has listed the Annoying Dog from Undertale as one of the best dogs in gaming. InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 21:38, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting comment: I think a highly unusual 4th relist is warranted, as there's still no clear consensus, but at a minimum having Aerial art and Aerial arts point to different pages is clearly unsatisfactory as an outcome. I would encourage participants to read the disambiguation draft proposed by Jay and consider whether it is a suitable solution.

Redirecting an individual house of worship to the decent-sized overall denomination isn't helpful for anyone, as the target is far too broad to mention the thousands of individual congregations under its umbrella. This redirect isn't very helpful, and it's a very unconventional alternate name for a film. Received 0 pageviews in the past 30 days. InfiniteNexus (talk) 06:27, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. I could maybe imagine some DC fans shortening Wonder Woman 1984 to 1984, but to search this, a reader has to both a) have stumbled upon the shortening 1984 somewhere, b) not know the movie's full title, and c) still know it's a Wonder Woman film. That leaves a very small number of people, even if you ignore the question of how many readers will type in parenthetical disambiguators when searching. To boot, this disambiguation format is mostly used for elements or characters within a universe, so the redirect might cause confusion by implying that there's something specific in the DC universe named 1984 (aside from the year). Glades12 (talk) 16:31, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Offender has two meanings, 1) someone who commits a crime and 2) someone or thing that does something offensive. There are several works entitled Offender, Offenders, The Offenders (see the very long hatnote at Crime. • Disambiguate. "Offender" and "offender" have a number of meanings in both media and common language. None of these are what I call a primary topic, so a disambiguation page at Offender with a Wiktionary link is sensible. The result of the discussion was delete. The only person to !vote for a specific outcome !voted delete, and a 1-0 consensus to delete is sufficient at RfD, so, done. The SkateZone venture of the Flyers is not mentioned at the article and as the Flyers sold three of them[1] and converted the fourth into a practice facility that goes by another name, meaning the "Flyers Skate Zones" do not exist anymore, making them highly unlikely to be covered in the article. The result of the discussion was replace with article. With thanks to BlackholeWA. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 07:57, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This subject is much broader than the subject of the current redirect target, Kremlinology. Its scope corresponds geographically to the former Soviet Union (or the moribund Commonwealth of Independent States), and it is a synonym for the largely overlapping current and formerly used names Eastern European studies, Eastern European and Eurasian studies, Eurasian studies, “Russian studies” (sic), Slavic studies, Soviet Studies, etcetera.  —Michael Z. 17:57, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • If there is no appropriate article for the banner topic and it is a recognized area of study in academia, I vote to Articlify the redirect to provide an overview, with appropriate links to the subtopics mentioned by the nominator. BlackholeWA (talk) 19:53, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There might be a better main-article title. The moniker “post-Soviet” is definition by negation, less than useful because it groups a very diverse set of states by something they are now not, and frowned upon by some people in the field. That said, I don’t know what’s good, so it may need some research. (But I have no objection to creating it with this title to begin with.) —Michael Z. 20:40, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Blackhole in principle and I do think that it could make a good article, but if not, then Disambiguate to Eastern European Studies, Russian studies, or whatever other field is necessary. InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 19:24, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect to Post-Soviet states. The best way to study them is to read about them. Anythingyouwant (talk) 02:39, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate  As nominator, I endorse this solution. The broad subject overlaps with many others, and a link to related fields of study captures the subject better than redirecting to the collective subject of the subject. —Michael Z. 16:36, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • I am not sure that a DAB is an appropriate solution here if "Post-Soviet studies" is its own distinct topic that can support its own article in a manner not already directly covered/discussed by the articles we would be disambiguating to. Do any of them actually use the term "Post-Soviet studies", or can we accurately say that "Post-Soviet studies" is an accurate alternate name for any of these topics? It sounds like it is not due to the larger scope. If the subjects are merely related then we should not be disambiguating to them per WP:DABRELATED. In fact, if it is its own topic and we don't have an article draft ready to go we should probably just delete the redirect to encourage article creation per WP:REDLINK. Alternatively if we were going to link to pages via a DAB anyway it might be just as little effort to simply put up a small non-DAB stub with a sourced definition and then stick the related topics in a "See also".
