Suspected sockpuppets

NorthernLegalYorks and LegalB2013Winner are both SPAs that have edited a page associated with a divorce law firm, Manches. They appear to both have done more or less the same thing, adding fairly resume-ish material in quick succession. NorthernLegalYorks was created several minutes after the last edit of LegalB2013Winner, which seems suspicious.

Negropont has done substantial editing at another page associated with Manches (James Stewart (lawyer)) and claims to be the author of the professional photo used on that page. The account seems also to have made edits that are mostly promotional in tone, shortly after the other edits at Helen Ward (solicitor) were completed. The reason I think that these accounts on different pages are related is

  1. they are all editing on the same group of people related to Manches, with more or less the same tone, one of resume-building
  2. Negropont and LegalB2013Winner both inserted photos that were incorrectly formatted in the same way:
Negropont's edit
LegalB2013Winner's edit

This is why I have requested checkuser. I will also mention that I thought the potential for socking on these and related articles to be so significant that i mentioned that possibility in some of my edit summaries. There may very well be additional socks, whether IP or SPA, on these pages, I simply find the evidence I have presented above most compelling.

(I have added Londongreek because, even though they are currently blocked, they appear to be substantially connected to Negropont via the Dimitris Theocharis page -- while researching the additional suspicions section below it seemed like the name was suggestive, and they have mostly edits to similar pages i.e. London divorce lawyers like James Stewart (lawyer))

additional suspicions

There is another contributor to some of these pages who has been blocked for socking in the past, WikiRecontributer47 (see this archived discussion). I suspect that if these users prove to be socks, that this all is a continuation of a fairly consistent pattern, related specifically to London divorce lawyers, or perhaps to IAML-connected firms generally. Potentially notable edit targets include Collaborative law, Fiona Shackleton, Jane Simpson (solicitor), and the like. [UseTheCommandLine ~/talk] #_ 20:12, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

response to checkuser questions:
Because at least two confirmed socks, Negropont and Cameron2007, have edited fairly substantially at Dimitris Theocharis, a page that Londongreek created (and may well have a connection to, given the residence and heritage of the article subject), i don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that they may be linked. Further, Londongreek created the article on Theocharis, but the [picture] on James Stewart (lawyer) lists in its Description: "James Stewart by Dimitris Theocharis (Negropont)" and copyright is claimed as "own work". Assuming this is correct, at minimum we have Londongreek creating an article on someone Negropont claims to be, before then largely leaving it alone; Negropont or their socks have largely done edits to the Theocharis page since roughly a week after Londongreek created the initial article. Interestingly, this time period (roughly a week after the initial edits by Londongreek to the Theocharis article) is when the Negropont account was created. This, to me, seems suspicious enough to warrant checkuser -- I was mistaken before, and Londongreek is not currently blocked, though I suspect that if they are found to be socks it may be used as a sleeper account. Furthermore, both of these accounts have the majority of their edits at common pages anyhow. There is also an apparent tendency on these common pages for Negropont to have made most of the edits after March 2011, which is when Londongreek was blocked.
Sorry for not using more diffs, much of this information is from looking at the edit histories and user interaction reports. -- [UseTheCommandLine ~/talk] #_ 21:33, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

addendum

Since Cameron2007 is a confirmed sock of Negropont, I checked their edits. they have made a number of edits at Julie le Brocquy, and there is at least one SPA also editing substantially there, Jameshenrywilson, who has also edited at James Stewart (lawyer). (though they have not edited in about 6 years, maybe the point is moot.) Londongreek has also edited that article substantially. Given the already known extensive socking, I am concerned about sleeper accounts, as noted above. -- [UseTheCommandLine ~/talk] #_ 23:07, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Also, it is Londongreek that is of interest, not Londongeek -- [UseTheCommandLine ~/talk] #_ 00:37, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeesh, this is a bit ridiculous. May want to add 86.140.58.196 in there as well, based on recent edits to James Stewart (lawyer). -- [UseTheCommandLine ~/talk] #_ 01:35, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
