Wikipedia:Wikipedia is Also a Woman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wikipedia is Also a Woman – action, which aims in popularizing the idea of Wikipedia by encouraging and empowering new people, especially women, to participate actively in creating Internet encyclopedia - Wikipedia The Free Encyclopedia. Initiated by Julia Maria Koszewska of Wikimedia Poland.

The action is part of an international debate on the women's participation in creating Wikipedia.

The first meeting from this series took place in 2011 in Warsaw, Poland about 8 March, that is the International Women's Day. Other cities in Poland joined the action and organized similar meetings and events. Further actions in this series were coordinated, inspired by and joined with other gender gap, and Wiki-Women initiatives on Wikipedia around the globe.

In Warsaw the action would consist of workshop-meeting. The participants (she-wikipedians to be) would be introduced to the functioning rules of Wikipedia and later have the opportunity to implement gained knowledge into practice under the mentorship of experienced she-wikipedians.
