Question re one-a-week

[edit]

Does missing a week disqualify? I suppose so, sadly. After creating 4 bios by 3 Jan I had a week last week where a lot of my on-wiki time was elsewhere (created dozens of redirects while testing out a gadget, lots of contributions to some stroppy discussions, etc) and seem not to have created another bio: I took my eye off the ball! That's me out for the year, is it? Ah well, maybe next year! I hadn't actually got around to signing up for the project, so perhaps it wasn't for me. PamD 11:13, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that would disqualify you... But if you ever want some people to do, there might be something on the daughters of Jacques Andreani, specifically Marie-Emmanuelle Andreani and Olivia Andreani. Historyday01 (talk) 16:39, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think so, PamD. Not based on how the event is worded. It's preferable, sure, with the page saying everyone should try to meet the one a week standard. However, the required specific time points are "those who manage to continue for three months (with at least 13 articles), six months (26 articles), nine months (39 articles) and for the whole of 2024 (52 articles)". That's how I've been interpreting it, at least. I also haven't done "one a week" so far, some weeks have more than one, which I was counting as a buffer for the following week as needed. Hence why I set up my User:Silver seren/2024 1Week1Woman page in the format it is. SilverserenC 21:07, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It also wouldn't make sense to be strict on this, considering the majority of participants joined after the year had started. SilverserenC 21:09, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Creation within one week

[edit]

Hi all, when I am creating new pages, I usually start in the sandbox and work on it until it is finished, which may take over a week. I will then move the article into mainspace. Does this count for the challenge? Or should I try to make it all within a day or two, rather than work on them over time? Thanks! JaneClawsten (talk) 17:44, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

See the discussion above. There seem to be different interpretations of the rules so I wouldn't worry too much. Just move the articles into mainspace when you are ready. I think it's better to do that than work on them over time in mainspace. Otherwise you find that your first effort gets graded up as a stub when by the time you have finished it is a B or C. Good luck.Roundtheworld (talk) 11:10, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the only actual requirements to meet from what I can see, JaneClawsten, is the 13/26/39/52 article amounts every 3 months. And I would also say, from the way it is worded, that you should be able to start now in the April to June period and just have that count for your first 3 months period, even if other people are working on their 6 month period. Is that the correct way to interpret that, Ipigott, for people who are joining later? I know that makes things more complicated for you though in giving out the awards. @JaneClawsten: We don't want to be tied down by rigid rules here. If contributors can show that they are averaging one new biography a week for each of the months in question, that's good enough for me. It doesn't matter how long an article is being prepared in a sandbox. The date that counts is when the article is listed on #293.--Ipigott (talk) 05:40, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Newbie Coming on board

[edit]

Hello all. This is an awesome forum. I returned to Wiki recently to create an article about the artist Bonnie Rychlak: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Bonnie_Rychlak. It has been a bumpy road getting back in the saddle, as reflected in some of the comments I received on my initial draft. Although I submitted the much improved article for review recently, I understand that I can continue editing it while it awaits review. Should anyone in this group be so inclined to provide feedback on what might improve it, I would very much appreciate it. Also, it is unclear to me how to list this article on pages for relevant projects such as this one. Any assistance much appreciated. Gaw54 (talk) 08:17, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
