Nasushiobara (那須塩原市) is a city in northern Tochigi prefecture, Japan.

The city was established in 2005 with the merger of the former city Kuroiso and the towns of Nishinasuno and Shiobara.

Nasushiobara is on the JR Tohoku Shinkansen line about an hour north of Tokyo. You can make the same journey by local trains in three and a half hours, though it might require a transfer in Utsunomiya.

  • 1 Mori no VoiVoi (森のVoiVoi), +81 287-74-3194. M W-F 10:00-17:00, Sa Su 08:00-17:00. This pancake house serves western-style pancakes. It also serves waffles and hard-to-find smoked bacon. The building is a sort of imitation log cabin — beams are used instead of logs — which creates a friendly atmosphere. ¥ 900-1,500.
