Cutting edge #machinery is essential for #harvesting grass, leading #farmers to hiring contracts for the service. However, if that contractor’s machinery is defective it can cause delays and reduce the value of the crop. Lero researchers, at University of Galway, work in collaboration with McHale Machinery to monitor crop characteristics and machine loading, to predict component failure in #agricultural machinery. Learn more about the work of researchers at Lero, the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Software, including Dr Dallan Byrne, Sean Harkin, Tomas Crotty, Prof. Martin Glavin, and Prof. Edward Jones. #SoftwareForABetterWorld #LeroResearch https://lnkd.in/dTH8zkpA

The EU has introduced new #regulations that mandate certain Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in all new vehicles. These measures, which include drowsiness #detection and advanced emergency braking, aim to significantly reduce deaths and serious injuries on roads. Researchers from Lero's Emerging Risk Group at University of Limerick, and Motion-S, Luxembourg, found advanced #EmergencyBraking is the most impactful #technology, reducing three out of the four most frequent collision categories: intersection (by 28%), rear-end (by 27.7%) and pedestrian collisions (by 28.4%).
