TikTokers are noticing a lot of strange memes about ordering one million beers pop up on their For You Pages recently. The memes, which make heavy use of Snapchat's "handsome" filter, are now spreading to X / Twitter, but some viewers seem confused about what they mean and where they came from. Here's what you need to know.

What Is The 'One Million Beers' Meme?

Back in early June 2024, TikToker @zackenyon posted the video that would start the "one million beers" meme. In the video, he wanders around a party with a beer in his hand, occasionally tipping it toward the camera. The whole video is filmed in selfie mode while the TikToker uses what's purportedly the "handsome" filter on Snapchat.

The video is captioned, "Open bar you say? Yea I'll have 1 million beers," joking that he's going to abuse the unlimited bar privileges to drink an exorbitant number of beers. The video, which is set to the song "Sladko" by Serebro, gained over 3.4 million views in about a month. Viewers latched onto the "one million beers" punchline and ran with it.

How Is 'One Million Beers' Used In Memes?

The original "one million beers" video began to inspire memes later that month. These memes, however, intentionally make a lot less sense than the original, leaving out the "open bar" concept to simply have someone order or receive one million beers, or even "one thousand million beers" in some cases. The memes are largely still set to "Sladko" and always make use of the handsome filter.

The memes have also started to spread to other social media sites like X, where one user went viral reposting an example of the meme and writing, "unfortunately I’ve been laughing about this for 36 hours." Without the proper context, the memes might not make a whole lot of sense. Still, they've proven very popular on TikTok, with dozens of examples of the meme boasting millions of views.
