LONDON: Yuki Bhambri and Frenchman Albano Olivetti went down to the eighth-seeded German pairing of Tim Puetz and Kevin Krawietz in the second round of the men's doubles. Bhambri and Olivetti exited the championships 6-4, 4-6, 3-6 on a rain-hit day.
Bhambri and Olivetti, who came together earlier in the year, started well, riding on the lone break in the set to wrest early advantage.
The Indo-French combine were broken when they were serving to stay in the set, in the tenth game of the second set, which helped the Germans level scores.
Bhambri and Olivetti did well to hold on to their serve in the opening game of the decider, but appeared shaky for most part of the set, allowing the eighth seeds to go through.
