Re: Request for approval: Wikimedia MA User Group

edit

Hi Reda! Thank you for writing me I will keep an eye in your application. If you filled the format, that means we will receive a notification in AffCom's mailing list soon. I hope we are reading and answering soon. At first glance I can tell you that maybe we will make some observations about your UG name, ordinally the names "Wikimedia XX" are reserved for chapters. You should talk with your partners and try to have other options. "Wikimedians from/of XX" are more common for UGs. Take on account that. :) Regards!

Thank you for the reply @Salvador alc:
We filled out the form on July 22, so you have already received the notification.
Concerning the name, we chose to take the same name of the Tunisians: Wikimedia TN User Group.
Do not hesitate to contact me if there are any other comments.
Best regards --Reda benkhadra (talk) 14:46, 2 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi Redra. This is a follow-up on your application. I have bad news. We didn't receive your application in our mailing list. I checked in our archives and mails bumped and nothing appeared. I don't know where was the mistake :( But don't worry the solution it's so simple as sending again your application through this page. I promise you that I personally take care of your application to give it rapidity. Regards. --Salvador (talk) 20:50, 28 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Salvador alc: Thank you for warning us, however, we have filled out the application form again and we have received an automatic email confirming the dispatch, I hope that the recognition process will not take much time, cordially --Reda benkhadra (talk) 13:43, 2 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi Redra. Yes, I confirm you that we alse received the mail of the application in AffCom mailing list. Thank you. If you fulfill the requirements take for granted it will take just a few days. --Salvador (talk) 14:28, 2 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
I left a message in the talk of the UG page, only to confirm the change of the name. Please move the page to the name you choose. :) --Salvador (talk) 15:10, 2 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Salvador alc: I renamed the page, there is other comments? --Reda benkhadra (talk) 16:32, 2 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
I willnotify the AffCom. So far there is not any other comment. If any one is raised in a couple of days we will notify you the resolution. Regards! --Salvador (talk) 17:22, 2 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much @Salvador alc: --Reda benkhadra (talk) 17:37, 2 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Salvador alc:, Thank you for monitoring our process and recognition the user group. However, I have many questions to ask yourself after the recognition:

  1. Why the resolution of recognition does not yet exist?
  2. Who will take care of creating the group's logo? We or a member of the foundation?
  3. What's the use of that mailing list? How our group could have its own email?
  4. Is there an organizational structure for a user group ? For example: President, Treasurer, Secretary General, vice president ...
  5. How other persons can join the group? Via a form?

Thank you in advance

Regards, --Reda benkhadra (talk) 15:49, 8 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Dear Reda, I woudl be willing to attend the conference next year but the form is in arabic , so I was wondering will your conference be in arabic because then its useless , if itś in english or french i would be very willing indeed , even to give a presentation Je serais ravi de venir a la conférence mais le formulaire est en arabe , donc je me demandais si la conférence serait en arabe alors ma presence serait inutile, si par ailleurs il serait en anglais ou en francais je serasi partant, meme pour donner une presentation

Hello @DerekvG:,
The conference is not only in Arabic but also in English. Last year, several non-Arabic speaking people participated and even gave presentations such as Andy Mabbett and Mark Graham, and others (see presentations of WikiArabia2015).
If you want to participate, I am ready to translate you the questions on the form.
Cordially, --Reda benkhadra (talk) 17:17, 5 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Mois de la contribution

edit

--Reda benkhadra (talk) 01:52, 18 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your participation during the Inspire Campaign focused on outreach to outside knowledge networks from February 2017. I'm interested in hearing your experience during the campaign, so if you're able, I invite you to complete this brief survey to describe how you contributed to the campaign and how you felt about participating. I want to improve how campaigns are run, so let me know if there's something that could be done better for next time.

Please feel free to let me know on my talk page if you have any questions about the campaign or the survey. Thanks! I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 18:34, 31 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi! To make your global description even easier to read in other wikis, I would suggest the small following difference: using [[m:Wikimedia MA User Group|Wikimedia MA User Group]] (which works also on this wiki) instead of [[Wikimedia MA User Group]]. Hope this suggestion suits you   Best regards, — Automatik (talk) 20:19, 16 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Affiliate-selected Board seats process welcomes your support

edit

Hello. You are receiving this message because you are active in the field of translations <3 The movement needs you! The Nominations phase has started for the ongoing selection process of two Board members, and the timeline is quite tight.

A Translation Central is available to help translators figure out what's been covered and what's left to do. Over the course of the next few weeks, your attention on candidates' profiles is particularly welcome.

While there are four languages that are especially relevant for multiple affiliates (namely Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish), you can also add others. If you can't help: please see if you know anyone in your circle who could, and spread the word :) Thank you! Elitre (WMF) and Facilitators of ASBS 2019, 13:20, 18 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Adding new lines to a translatable page

edit

Hi Reda, I just noticed this edit of yours [1]. See, there is a number to every translatable unite of text, like <!--T:10-->? When you edit the page, please do not change this number anywhere. If you add new text that will have to be translated, just put it into <translate></translate> tags, this is enough. You don't need these T:xx numbers to be in numerical order on the page. They are put automatically and changing them manually creates additional work for translators. Thanks for understanding. --Ата (talk) 08:13, 31 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Ата: thank you for this clarification, it helps understanding the use of <translate>. I'm actually working on WikiArabia 2019/Venue and need your help to be able to translate the page to other versions, this page is a bit technical than previous ones. Thank you in advance. --Reda benkhadra (talk) 17:48, 10 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Question

edit

Hi there! I'm just looking for confirmation that indeed all dates at WikiArabia_2019 are correct? Calls were done last year? Thanks! --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 17:48, 26 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Elitre (WMF): yes indeed, calls were done last year as the conference was scheduled to be held between 19 and 21 April, and since it was postponed the decisions for both calls were kept until new dates will be set, which is the case now as the conference will take place between 4 and 6 October in Marrakesh. --Reda benkhadra (talk) 18:13, 26 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot for clarifying! Have a happy conference, --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 18:59, 27 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
