EivindJ@nowikt

The following discussion is closed.

I request bureaucrat access.

Please let me know if I rather should apply for temporary access. Our bureaucrat does neither reply on e-mail nor is he active on the project; I therefore locally nominated myself to become a bureaucrat. --EivindJ 12:10, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

On hold. As that bureaucrat has deleted his or her own user and talk pages, I wonder if s/he is vanishing without resigning. If so, you may want to discuss locally if that bureaucrat should be demoted. For the size of your community, I endorse your temporary access for 3 months. After that, you may then decide whether to continue as a bureaucrat per community opinion.--Jusjih 17:29, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
I am more than happy with a temporary access of three months, if you can provide me with that. After three months we will probably know better what to do, and we can figure out if the other 'crat wants to demote or not. Thanks. --EivindJ 22:52, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Not done In principle, temporary bureaucratships are not granted. You can ask the stewards for assistance where you normally would approach the bureaucrat (in case he is and remains inactive). It might be advisable to reconsider as a community whether you want the bureaucrat to remain in function at all. (makes asking stewards somewhat easier) Effeietsanders 16:31, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
That's ok. Soon we'll have global bot policy, which will give my bot and the other active one bot flag. I will ask the community to decide what to do regarding 'crats. --EivindJ 21:54, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Please grant checkuser access to SB Johnny at Commonswiki after a successful request.

I was a significant part of the discussion, so I recuse from any Steward action regarding this matter. Please review the vote, and the bureaucrat discussion, as well as the associated talk pages, to validate that this is a true and accurate statement of the consensus outcome of this matter.

Mercy@cs wikipedia

The following discussion is closed.

I request removal of his sysop access.

  • Language Code: cs
  • Local Confirmation/Request Link: none, see below.
  • Local User Page: cs:User:Mercy

I have been blocked on cs: on 23 August 2005 (exactly 3 years ago). On 23 May 2006 it was changed into 1 year, on 18 September 2007 into indefinitive. The only real reason behind this was to enable mocking me without possibility for defending myself. To remind only recent cases:

  1. -jkb- on 27 April 2008: Such reactions [of sysop Vrba] remind me of uncontrolled effusions of unsavable alcoholics ("takové reakce na mne dělají dojem nekontrolovaných výlevů nezachranitelných alkoholiků").[9] Then he compared me to sysop Vrba: "Obávám se, že reakce vašeho kolegy Vrby nechávají tušit, že zdejší komunita jednoho Z nechtěla, ale druhého chce."[10]
  2. Egg in May 2008 misused my real name as symbol of a bad behaviour: 1, 2, 3 a 4.
  3. Cynik on 20 August 2008: 1 a 2.

Because I am blocked, I asked all Czech sysops to remove this libel and to block Cynik. Sysop Mercy have replied to me: "I am sorry, but I refuse to fulfil my sysop's duty. You caused your problems by your attacs outside the Wikipedia." Yes, I agree that I had criticised bad sysops like Mercy many times on my blog and so does cs:Patrick Zandl[11] and widely read magazine cs:Reflex (časopis)[12]. But this is no reason for intentional breaching of en:WP:BAN: "As such, it is inappropriate to bait banned users or take advantage of their ban to mock them."

That's why I ask for sysopping of Mercy. Thank you. —Guy Peters 09:56, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes, ru.wiki has local checkusers. Need cross-wiki check this user on more 50 Wikimedia wikis. 80.234.6.97 23:22, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

This is sockpuppet of serious vandal Afinogenoff, see Pauk's quote in LJ: [russian:А разве Таллирдиева фотки публиковала? И тоже УЖЕ не в Википедии.][english:How Tallirdieva photos published? And also not ALREADY in Wikipedia.][comment:Tallidieva is Afinogenoff's indefblocked virtual] - they wrote this on livejournal community ru_wikipedia.
Answer to this post: 1) [AndyVolykhov:1) публиковала; 2) нет, в Википедии, под другим логином.][english:1) published; 2) No, in Wikipedia, under another username.]. 2) [AndyVolykhov:Фотка уже удалена, видимо. А ник сейчас, как писал админ меты на IRC-канале - Innv.][english: Photo has already been removed, apparently. A nick now, as the Meta-sysop wrote to IRC-channel - Innv.][comment:Innv=Tallirdieva=Afinogenoff]. 80.234.6.97 23:51, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Ok, that is no prove of it. If You continue to replace Innvs pages across wiki I will block Your account Сварог Всевышний, so please stop that (also don't do it with other accounts...). Ru.wiki checkusers can comment here tomorrow, they might sleep now. Thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 23:55, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Ok. Thanks. Everything should be done to block all accounts this serious sockpuppeter/vandal. Afinogenoff created a lot of offensive sockpuppet and more provocations. 80.234.6.97 23:59, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. As I feared I can't reach anyone at this hour, I will talk to ru.wiki checkusers tomorrow as this is not an emergency right now. I have added Innv to our watchlist, so nothing unexpected can happen. --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 00:21, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
There are similarities of style Innv and sockpuppets Afinogenoff:
  • Non-standart signature, with links to discussions, and contribution and anywhere. Please, compare: signature of T-tok, indefblocked virtual of Afinogenoff: t-tok, and Innv: --~Innvs: and Afinogenoff (on listed in the spam list resource, wiki.traditio.ru): — Afinogenoff §, and Dream (renamed Afinogenoff on spam listed resource): Dream.
  • Abundant use of smile all Afinogenoff's sockpuppets: see user talk T-tok and user talk Innv.
  • See almost two entirely back-phrase: in user talk Innv on Meta-wiki: Всегда пожалуйста! Если что обращайтесь :) and phrase on spam listed resource: Всегда пожалуйста, если что — обращайся.. 80.234.6.97 00:43, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

I believe there is some error here, as Innv is an admin on Russian Wikisource (their SUL homewiki), and I have found this user to be productive on both Russian and English Wikisource. They are a sysop on many other wikis, notably mediawikiwiki. I suggest that this request be dropped unless someone in good standing puts their name to this request. John Vandenberg 00:41, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes, as I said, ru.wiki checkusers should comment here tomorrow. I have reverted all changes to Innvs pages btw. as this is not only unecessary but also without proove harassment, sorry, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 00:43, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Innv similar to AstroNomer its activities - he also was productive with the party elected writing articles, but has been blocked for similar reasons - sockpuppetry. 80.234.6.97 00:46, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Also T-tok participants was very positive, even had received permission "patroller", but it was blocked for sockpuppetry - Afinogenoff was puppeteers. 80.234.6.97 00:48, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Ok, please enough now, don't make this unreadable. This is all not convincing, we will talk to ru.wiki tomorrow, nothing more to add here, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 00:50, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Please, note: Trolling on this page began simultaneously with the commencement of work on puppeteers spam-listed resource. 80.234.0.96 11:01, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

ATTENTION! Next time someone will call anyone else a troll, vandal or will just revert someone's message. he will be blocked. Thanks — vvv 11:20, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Cacao has been only a part of the community for less than a week, and was a troll while he was there. Certainly he does not speak for the EO:WP community. Global rollback for Giggy

Hello. I have been doing some crosswiki vandal fighting, occassional anti-spam work, and occassional deletion tagging as part of the SWMT and global rollback would make this easier and more productive. Examples of some stuff I've done: [23] [24] [25] [26] [27] [28]. I have experience with the tool on EnWP (rollbacker) and Commons (admin, crat), I'm also active on some other wikis as detailed on my userpage. Thanks. —Giggy 06:50, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Comment Comment - Yes - respected and a hard worker across multiple projects, I have no doubts that Giggy will use global rollback appropriately. Cirt 07:50, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Ya — and I'll tap you as needed for id:wp issues; be handy having someone so active and approximately in my timezone to deal with he-who-shall-not-be-named on his next spree. Cheers, Jack Merridew 08:09, 3 August 2008 (UTC).
  • Comment Comment He has only recently started doing work for this (i.e. most of the work has been done in the past week). Maybe with more time, but I don't think he should be granted it now. Majorly talk 12:24, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment Comment I am aware of the dramas that giggy seems to attract :) Equally I do see that he is relatively newly active in a real way in this area so that might be a reason to decline. However I can only say that from my interaction with him regarding Commons both on and off wiki my respect for him has continued to grow. I do not see that it is at all likely he would abuse these rights.--Herby talk thyme 12:38, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment Comment -As mentioned on another request, I don't think new members should get this right, atleast not yet, Giggy has been with the Cross-wiki team for just over 6 weeks which I don't think is enough time to request this right, trust is NOT the issue here...--Cometstyles 13:11, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment Comment - I must agree that this is a premature request - Giggy is not a core member of the SWMT (which is not to say that they have not done good work, rather that they have not been doing good work for very long). I would recommend declining this request in favour of continued participation in this area, and another request some weeks or months down the road.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:31, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the comments guys, I think I'll withdraw this now and maybe request again at some stage in the future when I've done some more work. Not sure if it's archived anywhere... —Giggy 00:52, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Global rollback for Nixeagle

The following discussion is closed.

I'm planning on getting into counter vandalism again. I'm already a meta sysop, and I have experience in this task. One of the things that must be done is reverting crosswiki spam before or after we blacklist those links. You will see that I have been active back in April 2008: Spam_blacklist/Log#April_2008, and prior to that Spam_blacklist/LogPre2008#February_2007, for a period of about 3 months. (note that Eagle 101 was my old username). —— nixeagle 17:30, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

  • I would like to vouch for Nixeagle here. He often does excellent work in a variety of areas, and I believe he'd use this tool well. --Anonymous DissidentTalk 21:08, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
  • I support this, Nixeagle is a trusted user who I believe will contribute positively in this form. MBisanz talk 21:30, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Normally I'd suggest waiting a while, but Eagle is a well trusted user, and was, at one point the most active user on the spam blacklist pages. He's become more active lately in this area, and I think global rollback will suit him well. Majorly talk 21:44, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Hm, I tend to Oppose Oppose (or better not yet). You did a couple of cross-wiki edits just in the 10 minutes after you put in this candidature here, but that was after 4 months of nothing (and the activity phase in March/April was also not more than two weeks). I would say, let's wait one or two months. --Thogo (talk) 21:46, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Global rollback for Jorunn

I've been doing some cross-wiki work, reverting vandalism and removing cross wiki linkspam, for the last year, and I think global rollback would be of help for me in that work.

I have a global account, but it doesn't include my main account on my home wiki (nn:user:Jhs). I have myself blocked nn:user:Jorunn to prevent me editing from the account. I have been blocked for a short while on et.wikipedia and for some days on tpi.wiktionary. According to toolserver.org/~vvv/sulutil.php?user=Jorunn my home wiki is either yi.wiktionary or no.wikipedia, while user:Jorunn has the most edits on en.wikipedia. If you can set a home wiki for the account I would prefer meta. There are some 26 unattached User:Jorunn accounts. They are mine, but they are on closed wikis. Jorunn 01:18, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Global rollback for Alison

Hi there. I'm also a member of the Small Wiki Monitoring Team. I'm also checkuser on the English Wikipedia so tend to be involved in cross-wiki vandalism reversion, especially on Celtic-language wikis. Global rollback would be seriously useful in dealing with vandalism - Alison 08:52, 8 August 2008 (UTC) (PS: Link to my interwiki matix here)

  • Hi Majorly. They're there all right & I've been doing them for some years now. A lot of them are not self-evident as I tend to revert with comments in the local language. Here is just one example; "Athúsáideadh an leagan deireanach le Guliolopez", and another, and one from Manx WP. Here's a gawikiquote one [29] including one to the main page which lasted over a year![30] (Please dont' ask for a translation!! :) ) I've also had a lot more pre-SUL edits from up to late last year which were done either anonymously or on my old username, User:Ali-oops. Back, pre-sul, I often didn't even bother to log in, partially to prevent my being a target on other wikis. I've plenty more examples but this is just a cursory 5-minute dig - Alison 22:14, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Support Support I would say I'm rather concerned that Ally is too overloaded already, we seem to lean on her so much. • Thank you, Lar :) Bear in mind that I'm going to go do the vandalism reverts anyways - rollback tools or not. This would just mean that I can be quicker & thus be able to take longer breaks :) - Alison 22:17, 8 August 2008 (UTC) (lazy @ heart)

Global rollback for EivindJ

Member of the Small Wiki Monitoring Team, trying to revert all vandalism I come over at small wikis. E.g., [31] [32] [33] [34] [35] [36] [37] [38]. I haven't been a SWMT member for too long, so if more contributions are necessary before I can request Global rollback, please let me know! Thanks in advance. EivindJ 11:44, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Support Support, trusted user (sysop nowikt), helpful, friendly, hard working, active helping in swmt, thanks for helping, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 12:02, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Comment Comment, former sysop nowiki, interested in many languages and only good experiences with him from nowiki. Laaknor 23:23, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Comment Comment, I don't think new members of the SWMT would qualify for this, since people who have cross-wiki experience for a very long time should be a priority...--Cometstyles 22:56, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
That's not a reason to deny someone. Majorly talk 23:02, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
I find that highly irritating, I looked at his contributions not when he added some template to his userpage. And his contributions show cross-wiki vandalfighting experience, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 23:14, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Comment Comment Trusted user and active on smaller projects (and trusted there) as mentioned above, should be useful with global rollback. Cirt 23:00, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Global rollback for EVula

I spread out over lots of non-English projects (matrix!), and occasionally run across vandalism. I'd like it if I could roll it back in the language of the wiki; I try to keep my use of English to a minimum, and using the localized rollback verbiage would be nice (not to mention easier). For those that are unfamiliar with me, you can find a quick summation of my admin rights at User:EVula#Mini-matrix; I'd say I'm rather trust-worthy, but who knows, maybe I've got ex-girlfriends on here that would argue that point. ;)

I'm also aware that I'm not necessarily hurting by not having global rollback, and that there are others that would perhaps put it to more use than I would; it'd just be a nice supplement to my interwiki editing, and unless there's a maximum number of global rollbackers, I figure it'd be a net-gain. EVula // talk // // 16:50, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Comment Comment I don't see much in the way of vandal reversion in your edits. Could you please point me to them? Thanks. Majorly talk 20:07, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
    • Off the top of my head, I can think of one on the Greek Wikiquote[40] that was a couple of days old (I could probably dig up more, but I don't really have time right now to go through 300+ sets of contributions...). But like I said, I'm not as heavy on the anti-vandalism as other candidates here, I just think it would be helpful to have; if nobody else agrees, that's just fine with me. :) EVula // talk // // 20:42, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
  • I'd normally vouch for EVula, but for now, Global Rollback seems to be given out to those particularly active in the field, and you don't seem to be. I don't see a point in giving this to you when you haven't really demonstrated much activity in the area. Sorry. --Anonymous DissidentTalk 06:42, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment Comment, I can see that You work cross-wiki, but I can't see involvement in spam/vandalism reversion, sorry, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 09:35, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment Comment,I agree with birdy, building userpages and babel templates does not warrant cross-wiki vandalism reversion..--Cometstyles 13:02, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
    • Er, I do want to comment on this just a bit. :) The "userpage building" is only so I can consistently present who I am (and, most importantly, that I can't speak the wiki's language), I work on babel templates because they're the most reliably tracked across projects (though I do manage interwikis on plenty of other pages), and I also use the accounts to place free images from Commons.
Again, I don't mind not getting the rollback bit, and I don't mean to come across as pissed off here, but I do want to clarify what it is that I do cross-wiki; the above summation was a little on the dismissive side. EVula // talk // // 16:00, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment Comment Substantial cross wiki work. However, as with the other comments, I see nothing much in the way of reversions that might make this right of value to you & the project. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 16:15, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment Comment Although I was thinking of supporting Evula's Global Rollback request, but from what I've seen you seem to be either semi or inactive on most wikimedia sites (e.g Wikiversity, WikiSource, wikiquote) and others, with either a few reverts or none from those sites, despite of this you are a good administrator - but I am concerned about the Global Rollback request at this stage, if you became active on those sites and if we see some more cross-wiki vandalism reversion then maybe I'll give you my support.
