I think Alex's judgement and decision was and is correct. The community, which is indeed not very large at pdcwiki, had three weeks to comment or oppose (announcement was made on main page). Sadly the only vote was from me, the current admin. However a re-election is compulsory on this wiki. Please have a look at the preconditions for adminstatus, too. Thus I do not see any problems. Taking also into consideration that stewards have the power to stop misuse right away at any time it occurs, makes the risk of misuse even smaller. Apart from that, I think that it is better to have two admins on this wiki than just one. A compromise I see at this stage is that he gets temporary adminstatus for three months which is then automatically transferred into permanent adminstatus thereafter. Comment: we clearly need a better manual for how to get started with a fresh, clean wiki and a half-dozen editors. It makes sense for any such group to start out with temp sysops, for instance. -- sj | help translate |+ 01:11, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

It's different now, though, because we work with the Wikimedia Incubator. Technically they can hold their own elections on the test project before their "real" project gets created (I've seen this done in the past). I think some sort of Manual exists on Incubator. The incubator & betawiki are great for interface translation and initial work. Small wikis don't tend to get underway with temp sysops, all the same. We should have a "small wikis guidebook" that shows people how to do the typically overlooked things : renaming special pages; translating core pages that are linked in headers/footers; bootstrapping by creating administrivia pages (community portal/cafe, bot policy, administrators page, deletion policy & templates); when to ask for countervandalism or steward help. I would like to thank the Wikimedia community for the last 28 months, which were quite strenuous on me. I request the extension of my period as a sysop by six months from January 1, 2009. During the past three months some progress has been made on this wiki. However with the expiry of my access there would still be no active local admin left, since the other admins' last edit was still on June 11, 2008 (only 43 edits this year so far). To my experience somebody with admin access should be active on this wiki. Vandalism is rare but still occurs undetected. In addition I have not completed to streamline appearance and naming of articles. An other field to be taken care of is the copyright status of files which were uploaded. Hello, a temporary status is not given, because we are not confident, but because of too small or not existant local votings as some sort of quality control which is normally achived through votings by the local community. The reason is, that in growing communities there are often disputes and envy between sysops who had to go through a full election process and sysops basically appointed by stewards.

Hello, do You speak that language, there are pages that are not clear cut cases for speedy deletion. Also there are active users there so without local request this is a nogo. Leaving the local sysop a message would be much more helpful because in often this drags the local users to their wiki again and they start editing again (besides 23 March is not long ago and not really inactivity). Kashmiri Wikipedia has an administrator who has been inactive since January 2005. I'd like to request for a temporary 3 month sysop priviledge there because the Main Page has been locked from all editing and needs to be improved in order to attract new Kashmiri users. (I also intend to translate the interface into Kashmiri, through the help of competent native speakers, in Betawiki.) With the permission, I will be able to rearrange kashmiri wiki to make it more user friendly and enable users of both scripts to contribute there in harmony. As there are no frequent kashmiri users (if any) in ks.wiki it is a major problem to ask for their votes.
