Administrator access

Gusta@pt.wikivoyage

Confirmed for permanent adminship. Notice that some user did not used the template for support. Best regards! Gusta (talk) 00:36, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

I am not sure that there is a consensus for this. Ruslik (talk) 15:50, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
One against, five want me as administrator. Gusta (talk) 15:58, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
Texugo and Zoldyick are in favour, while Savh and Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton are definitely opposing you. Érico Wouters and Raylton P. Sousa has an "intermediate" position. I wont count Matheus Faria since he seems to have joined pt.voy simply to get sysop flag, at least for now. Considering your overreaction to Savh's comment I can quote Sousa's comment: este é um rapaz cheio de vontade de ajudar o que já traz pontos para ele. Mas infelizmente falte-lhe certa experiência e também certo entendimento do principio wiki como um todo so, I say Not done, at least for now. --Vituzzu (talk) 18:17, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
Matheus is in the same situation as Zoldyick (both came from wp-pt) and Savh are just doing a comment about something explained. I'm not sure about his opinion now. Gusta (talk) 22:13, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
My comment was not meant to be counted as an oppose, and the user did apologise afterwards. Savhñ 22:26, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Done: admin flag granted. Good luck! Mathonius (talk) 18:34, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Base@uk.wikinews

I have a temporary admin flag at uk.wikinews now I want to make it permanent (or at the worst case to continue temporary). See also voters' editcounts. Thanks in advance. --Base (talk) 18:34, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Well, but what percent of support votes should have user to promote? During previous nomination you had vote count 11-3 (78%) (with 1 oppose from one active user) and get temporary sysopship and now you have 8-4 (67%) (with 3 opposes from active users) and want to have permanent sysopship. P.S. You provide edit count at this moment, but some users made their edits after their voting. I.e. SteveR had only 6 edits at the moment of voting.--Anatoliy (talk) 18:46, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
At the last vote there was only one active user, so your argue is not valid. Also let stews decide what to do, you have already voted. --Base (talk) 21:15, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
There's definitely not a sufficient background for permanent, there's maybe one for temporary, anywa I'll let another steward decide since I've just declined your request for bureaucrat access. --Vituzzu (talk) 21:11, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
Not done per Vito above. There is not enough support to grant permanent adminship here, plus the community is still not big enough to grant permanent adminship (people comming from ukwiki just to vote cannot really be considered as members of Wikinews community). Sorry, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 09:21, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

hello everybody. actually speaking, permanent adminship is not so badly needed there... it seems that temporary admins are inclined to work more and really use the flag they have ;) thus, if permanent one is not possible, for how long can you extend Base's temporary adminship? the project is revived, and it needs constant attention (reacting "in time" is really important for the project, as news is news for a very short period of time, and it is crucial that there is someone to see that a new article is published, posted to the right section and so on and so forth), thus an active admin is needed indeed --antanana 13:01, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

I think it is possible to extend it for 3 months. Ruslik (talk) 07:34, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
I think so as well. If nobody objects, it could be extended on 5 April maybe, when the current temporary time expires. --MF-W 14:01, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
I disagree with this idea. Base abused his rights several times during last sysopship term.--Anatoliy (talk) 10:59, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
But there is another nomination for adminship in ukwikinews, more successfully.--Anatoliy (talk) 10:13, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
there may be and should be more than one temporary admin there. i've explained that. see above. i won't be able to react "in time" by me myself only - wikinews is not my main project. and base is active during the day. i am more active in the evening and during the nighttime. the project requires constant attention, the info there should be processed quicker than on wikipedia or other wikiprojects. p.s. and you are to think what is better for the project itself by not concentrating on your personal quarrels with base. don't make me a stepping stone in settling a score with'im, please. it's not fair sorry, みんな --アンタナナ 10:34, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
Last month I did not see there urgent requests which require quick reaction.--Anatoliy (talk) 10:59, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
You din not see ≠ there was no such requests. You are not the activiest one there and because of that it is ok that you don't see all requests. Actually, you've already voted so it is nonsense to copy vote here as actively stews may use autotranslation to read your argues straight in uk.wn.--Base (talk) 19:33, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
So, if there were such requests, show me them.--Anatoliy (talk) 20:11, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Just take a look on my TP for example - there is one urgent history-merge request. Others were in chat or somewhere else — you can find all in logs. If you not read all logs attentively then do not troll. And since you are not a steward why are you flooding here if you have already voted? --Base (talk) 20:27, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Stews, make a decision finally, please — I've make a vote to have a time for cleaning up in case of refusing, but you're not leaving me no such time. And I still have no idea will I get a new temporary term or not — I'm not a fan of ambiguity for a long time.--Base (talk) 19:33, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Looking at the discussion locally, I am going to uphold the original decision and mark this as Not done. The discussion there is currently without consensus and a new one will have to demonstrate clearer support for a further term of adminship. PeterSymonds (talk) 20:24, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Bureaucrat access

George Animal@ku.wiktionary

Hello
the inactive bureaucrats on ku.wikt have been removed so that we don't have any bureaucrats on our wiki.I nominated myself as bureaucrat see here. The German Wiktionary has got 3 bureaucrats and have (252.364 entries), but the Kurdish Wiktionary hasn#t got any bureaucrats although its is one of the biggest Wiktionaries. Thanks for understanding. and regards (George Animal)--85.176.174.248 18:29, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
Not done Hi George. What matters for a wiki to have local bureaucrats is the size of the community and the number of active admins, not the number of pages. This project is still not big enough (community size speaking) to have bureaucrats right now. I just checked and there were only 25 user right changes done by stewards since the beginning of the project, which clearly shows that there is no need for this. If you need some precisions, feel free to ask. Sorry, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 04:34, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
Could you say me why the Afriakkans Wiktioanry has got 2 bureaucrats? There are only 7 active users? Is that big community? I think, no.--Thanks85.176.139.54 12:42, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
Also the is.wiktionary has got 2 bureaucrats?Big community, I thin, no--85.176.139.54 12:49, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
Taking the example of is.wiktionary, these rights have been granted in 2006. Rules have evolved, and now we're more restrictive on granting permanent adminship and bureaucratship on small wikis, especially those without inactivity policy. You're certainly very active right now and able to answer requests quickly, but maybe you won't be that much active in some months, and people will have to wait months before the bureaucrat action is done. Currently the delay for stewards to handle bureaucrat requests is at most one day. Regards, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 06:54, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Hi, Thanks a lot for informat(ion)ing. I respect you and your opinion.Best regards--PS:I have forgotten my password for Meta.Shuld I create aan new account, or what can I do?85.176.166.217 12:02, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Hi. What I could advise you to do is to reset your password if you have set and confirmed an email adress for the meta account. Else you could request an usurpation to free the account at meta. If you have any other question, feel free to ask. Regards, -- Quentinv57 (talk) 20:52, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Can you please provide a local vote or discussion about this ? Stewards can't grant permissions without an explicit community consensus, and your case is a bit tricky here... Note: Something went wrong here. The rights were removed and re-added by Trijnstel on 11 April 2012. Then MarcoAurelio did the same on 8 March 2013 (for 6 months) (this section). However it seems like this was not logged on SRAT, so Matanya removed the rights already again on 11 April 2013. MarcoAurelio later regranted them for 6 months on 1 May 2013. I then removed them accidentally because this section was still listed on SRAT. I will now re-add them. --MF-W 22:57, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

On hold Notice posted yesterday and in wrong place. I've moved the notice so the request can get more visibility. fr33kman 15:11, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
How is the new page more appropriate ? The intro only talks about bot requests and if you look at the interwikis you clearly see this is a page for bot permissions. I'm not even talking about the more "visibility" aspect, and I wonder if the previous ones to request something on this Community Portal even visited the Tsétsêhéstâhese Wikipedia since the local url to to the Community Portal was different until yesterday. I don't understand why you make such a big affair with that, I could have just copy-pasted the templates without respecting the original authors and nobody here would have ever find out... What you should really ask is "What harm giving this user import rights on this Wiki can cause, and is there a real risk ?" and "Assuming good faith, is there a benefit in giving this user those rights, and will he really use those to contribute ?" I understand there are rules in place to protect the projects, but it looks to me this is only for the bureaucracy principle now. Amqui (talk) 19:25, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
The new location is where more people look for notices etc. As to what harm import can cause, if you don't know that then I'd say you are not ready to have it. AGF does not come into play when requesting a right such as import. The candidate must show they need it and know how to use it. I think you should just use copy & paste frankly. fr33kman 21:31, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
As I said in the first message, I have used this tool before on another Wiki, and never had any bad comments from it. Secondly, I didn't say it couldn't cause any harm, but that's the questions one needs to ask himself when looking at the requests on this page. Copy-pasting is a way more tedious process for templates using a lot of sub-templates (you can look at the Import log for the aforementioned template, and it's still missing some sub-templates and the ones they use), or maybe you could come help us by copy-pasting what we need then. Finally, I'm pretty sure the concept of founding principles is that they are applied at all times, and I really don't like to be treated as if I will vandalize something after having showed with time that I'm here to contribute. Amqui (talk) 22:58, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
No one has treated you like you will vandalize something. Sorry but you are wrong about "founding principles" they do not apply everywhere for everything. Some wikis have no concept of AGF, others allow personal opinions and still others permit original research, for instance. en-Wikipedia's policies don't apply everywhere. fr33kman 16:14, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
Anyway, that's another debate, you are diverting from the initial subject of this request. You could change the question I mentioned higher to "Is there a benefit in giving this user those rights, and will he really use them to contribute ?" to be more general. While we are diverting from the subject, where can we ask for minor global sysop actions to be performed on a Wiki without any sysop or bureaucrat ? I don't see a page for that in the Crosswiki requests list and I would have needed it more than once in the past including now. Amqui (talk) 18:33, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
There is Stewards' noticeboard. Use it. Ruslik (talk) 19:17, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

He also added all his files without any sources for which I called him thrice to act accordingly but he did nothing regarding and also used cut-n-paste methods and writing news. I think he should be a good editor also. But it's not to discourage or oppose, just pointed out the improvement-needs that the user is ignoring. Thanks for the time. --tari buttar [talk] 13:05, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

  • Done Granted for 6 months to expire on 2013-04-29. . The way the extension usually works is, you get for 3 months at first time, 6 months in the time of first extension, and then for a year, and so it continues. Since it is your first request of extension, your temporary access has been extended for 6 months and will expire in April 29, 2012. — T. 14:24, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Miscellaneous requests

Base@ukwikinews

I'd like to continue (to the maximum possible term) my importer rights in ukwikinews. I've done several imports there and probably I will do it in the future too (mostly we need some templates importing). I've made a confirmation vote, see also voters' (and mine) editcounts. Oppose argues was more against me as a sysop that as an importer. Thanks in advance. --Base (talk) 18:57, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Is not it easier to configure import sources for the interwiki import? Ruslik (talk) 13:27, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
We had a discussion about enabling transwiki-import, that was what I wanted, but community didn't support it. I can start one more discussion about it if you wish. But xml-import allows me to import from any wiki what is in some cases useful. --Base (talk) 13:32, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
There is no need to enable transwiki import. You just have to set up sources. I don't see how the community could not agree with setting up transwiki import sources and feel comfortable with having a user holding the permissions of importing files. There is absolutely no risk with setting up sources while a bad use of the file import can be quite dangerous. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 09:09, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
As I remember the main reason why transwiki import was not supported was that Wikipedia and Wikinews have different licenses (WP has CC-BY-SA, WN has CC-BY) and that licenses are not fully compatible (see NickK's comment here).--Anatoliy (talk) 22:12, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
If this were true no imports would be possible regardless of the method used, not even by copy-pasting. Ruslik (talk) 07:21, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
That's why I import only simple templates that are about cc-zero because of it's simpleness. (everybody can code the same, there is no authorship in it's code). --Base (talk) 15:33, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Since I not got a new term as an sysop it is too dangerous to give import rights to person without delete rights so Not done by nominant --Base (talk) 20:42, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
