I'm thinking that; even if strictly following the words of the policy, the self-block prevents the "complete inactivity" criterion to be fulfilled; a self-block with reason "globale Wikipause" isn't really something which stops the inactivity. I believe the bot has multiple functions, and only the importing links to Wikidata requires writing to other wikis. Another function is importing data from other wikis to Wikidata, and thus both the Wikidata bot flag and the API flag should be retained. --Rschen7754 10:10, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

A month ago I decided to leave spanish wikipedia [6]. I took a month for reflection upon many facts, problems faced by communities, how other wikis were being used to further harassment by trolls from eswiki with the support of those other communities, etc. I didn't want to take a rush decision, but I think this past month has been enough for me to see clearly the panorama .

I really believe wikimedia is dysfunctional at many levels, and I think it's wiser for me to use my time helping other projects.

I no longer have interest to deal with puerile sysops, uneducated editors, but mainly, trollish banned users who care not for the community but rather their lame "battlefield" and subvert wikimedia processes that should foster a good environment and turn them into weapons for their silly games.

My work, my time, is valuable enough so wasting it on an undeserving community was not an option for me. So I took a decision a month ago. And after a month of reflection I come here to confirm it.

I got tired of participating on a site that claims at face-value to cherish knowledge, but that instead is filled with petty politics and cliques.

I do not want to be associated with this wikimedia world. So please remove the following flags on my accounts.

• Enwiki: Sysop
• Commons: Sysop and checkuser.
• eswikiquote: bureaucrat and sysop
• eswikibooks: bureaucrat and sysop
• eswikinews: bureaucrat and sysop
• nahwiki: bureaucrat and sysop

and finally

• metawiki: buraucrat, oversight, checkuser and sysop.

I shall add as a procedural comment that enwiki and metawiki have 'crats that are better suited to remove the sysop permission and once the 24h expire I or some other steward will notify them so they can act on it, while we'll remove everything else. According to their policy, Stewards should not use their global rights to perform tasks that could be performed by local users. In emergency situations where local users are unable or unavailable to act, stewards are asked to use their global rights to protect the best interests of Wikipedia.

You're quoting the wrong policy. Anyway, yes, enwiki allows stewards to act as local 'crat for the purpose of removing administrators, and even mandates the user of stewards instead of local 'crats in certain situations. I am simply suggesting that it's silly for us to remove it when no other rights have to be removed from there and when it takes half a minute for me or you to post on WP:BN, hence keeping the logs locally. We announced it a few months ago when the project was launched. Including on newspaper article about it... (ie. w:pt:Wikipédia:Esplanada/anúncios#Matéria e guia da Folha de São Paulo sobre a Wikipédia e escolas). I do not know if they are following, but as you can see, it reaches almost all communities, we can not give all the details separately, so all information is gathered in wiki of the Movement Wikimedia Brasil.

I just tested this. It depends on whether you create the accounts by letting the software send a random password via e-mail, or if you enter the password yourself. In the first case, the user needs to log in with the temporary password on the wiki where the account was created first to change it. --MF-W 18:15, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Not liking this. Users should create their own accounts as such the lifting of the IP creation restriction should be the correct way to ago about this. Also, I've granted account creator rights several times for these requests and I never once saw it used, so I am very inclined to stop considering them and let it all be handled in the correct way, that is, bugzilla. I am also not encouraged by the user's vague ramblings of 'reprisals from communities'. I also note that local communities should be informed beforehand and with a little bit more than 2 day notice, and that we need an end-date in any case. First my main work in Wikimedia Movement is give lectures/workshops, second I was guided by staffs to acquire this flag. Exactly because I know that I would have to ask many times to release via bugzilla, and if their speed to respond are the same then other requests, I'll have to wait years for them to do, which is not thinkable. Also, lectures, and workshops, especially in Brazil, the dates are fully floating. Because of that, I'll have to change several times the bugs dates, and sometimes from one day to the other, I can not be held hostage to the developers as well as I am a hostage of the dates of institutions. And the numbers are likely to grow, we will begin work in schools that have more than 300 teachers, and who knows how many thousands of students. So that's why I'm asking, and some communities already very accustomed to having people coming from workshops such as Wikiversity-pt. I would like to obtain the import right on the English Wikipedia, so I can restore some long-lost page history back to the Wikipedia database from my personal copy of the January 2003 database dump. My reasons for doing so are outlined in the above-linked discussion; it is not *strictly* about giving me the import right, but it is about allowing all admins to import page history from a hyperthetical read-only online copy of the 2003 database dumps (the latter action requires work from a Wikipedia sysadmin). However, it demonstrates that restoring long-lost page history is an uncontroversial action on the English Wikipedia.
