عبیربٹ@ks.wikipedia.org

There doesn't seem to be much activity on Kashmiri Wikipedia. I would like admin permissions so that I can improve it. I am trying to get people to translate article into Kashmiri language. I use ubaierbhat as the User:Ubaierbhat for the english wikipedia. Thanks عبیربٹ (talk) 14:04, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

Not done. Dear عبیربٹ, thanks for your interest in helping out at the Kashmiri Wikipedia. However, you don't seem to be active on that project yourself: you've performed five edits on that wiki in November 2012 and there haven't been any contributions since. Furthermore, from my point of view, it remains unclear why you'd need admin permissions. You can also contribute (edit, translate, et cetera) without additional user rights. If needed, you can ask global sysops and stewards for administrator help on the Kashmiri Wikipedia. Mathonius (talk) 14:30, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for your response. I understand what you are saying. The site is very confusing. The problem is that the current admins have not been active for this wiki for a long time (2010). There are not many people who can read or write Kashmiri. Its mostly a spoken language. Even I am not very good at it. There are no proper tools to write Kashmiri on a computer. I thought as an admin I will take some ownership of the project and maybe work towards bringing more people to help. I have tried to go to local university but old folks there are not intersted. They don't know how to use computes. Thank you for your advice about global sysops and stewards عبیربٹ (talk) 05:27, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
As a side note, admins who are inactive for over 2 years will be removed soon through m:AAR. --Rschen7754 05:28, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

phurbutsering@bo.wikipedia.org

bo.wikipedia.org got problem with its font, its interface and articles display very small, I thought it need change, which suit with tibetan wikipedia and its own characteristics, many other language wikipedia, even some small language community wikipedia got their own common.css, which suit with their own font, and special features. if we don't improve that interface, Specially left side menu and right top menu, many people are asking about it again and again. also many people lost interest with contributing articles and file on our local wikipedia. I prepare few page for help as: https://bo.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Questions but still look small with coding big font. I am just applying for few weeks permission, so that i can improve few basic error in tibetan wikipedia. if possible we need help from some technical people, who can active on tibetan wikipedia.
At now its very difficult to find who can worthy as admin, we need to improve many template and box. normally i was working on translating wiki, tibetan portal. but i found its not meaningful till interface error are solve and make few new interesting template, also its very lack with discussion, because of lack with admin, who can organize and setup few groups, there is no good information for new comer. I am trying send them personally message, but lack of authorization, i can't do. i thought to ask you for advice on how to setup some basic information for new comer, many new comer lost interest here, lack of proper tutorial and help. for example i visit there at dz.wikipedia.org, which is dzongka wikipedia, they share same font as us, but their interface looking much more perfect than us, because of bigger font. actually our main page got more information than them. also this tibetan wikipedia main page was design by me and i know it lacking lot with comparing other wikipedia, so i hope you can give me any suggestion and advice regarding improving interface and visual design,

With regard to the font size, that is part of the issue of the mw:Universal Language Selector. You should start your reading at Tech/News/2014/11 and follow the issues and actions that have been occurring, and where to ask your questions.  — billinghurst sDrewth 07:07, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your suggestions, but it is not at all relevant with this case. I am not talking about problem with font rendering, its doing nice with all wikiproject. What I am Asking for help increasing its size, with need Edit its Common.css, If people at steward, don't wish to give me privileged for admin, I think any one at steward can edit our bo.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.css act major role here, because here is no people with authority to change some template and also so many necessary template or some template double, also need change some articles as restrict, because of some people edit or damage articles without understanding. i start discussion about editing font size and necessary action about its future development, but many user don't understanding Tibetan and Chinese, bo.wikipedia need local Tibetan user to handle things, who can understand every necessary to Tibetan language and its specialty . Tibetan Discussion forum links here. also can you just check discussion at my talk page

Kaldari@global

I believe we should remove of Kaldari's global edit interface rights. They were granted in 2010 as a volunteer and should have expired years ago. In light of recent events (twice used on enwiki outside of the intended purview of the rights - the protect right is there to edit cascading protections, not to act as local admin after you've been forced to resign) and admitted use of single purpose sockpuppets. Even if we don't take into consideration the fact that the rights are long expired and that they have been abused, surely operating sockpuppets is a breach of trust significant enough to warrant establishing whether community trust still exist for the rights. Snowolf How can I help? 19:31, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
Granted 3 years ago solely to deal with Vector roll out bugs. Need long since expired. QuiteUnusual (talk) 21:13, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
@QuiteUnusual: The first use on en.wiki was accidental and the second use was to revert myself. I was not aware that edit interface allowed you to change page protection. Since the option was available after my local admin rights were removed I assumed that all users had the right to protect their own talk page (which would be reasonable, IMO). You have to remember that I was an administrator for 9 of the 10 years I've been on en.wiki, so I have very little experience with acting as a regular editor. As you can see, I'm active across a large number of wiki projects besides en.wiki, and frequently help smaller wikis with their site JS and CSS issues. Here are some examples from last year[9][10][11][12]. As far as my "breach of trust", I used one sockpuppet account to make one edit in violation of the policy (in an effort to report incivility anonymously). I reported myself for the violation, apologized to all involved, and immediately resigned my administrator rights. I really don't see how that would lead the global community to lose trust in my ability to edit site JS and CSS. Kaldari (talk) 21:34, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
This right has to be applied for yearly. All other interface editors have had to do that, for some reason nobody noticed you hadn't done so that that your right expired 3 years ago. You are free to re-apply at any time. Snowolf How can I help? 21:38, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
"I was not aware that edit interface allowed you to change page protection. Since the option was available after my local admin rights were removed I assumed that all users had the right to protect their own talk page" It is not humanly possible to be that unaware of one's surroundings. 198.89.122.80 21:55, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
@Snowolf: Then why did you feel it was necessary to make it sound like I was purposefully abusing the tools and was no longer a trusted user of the rights? Kaldari (talk) 22:08, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
For what it's worth, I endorse the removal. Considering your positions, it seems incredible to me you thought "all users had the right to protect their own talk page", though I understand that some people might lose their common sense whilst in situations of stress, because I can't possibly see how it could be useful to allow users to protect their talk pages. On most projects, I don't know what it's like on enwiki, talkpages must remain open for users to be able to comment, and are only protected (shortly) in cases of heavy vandalism/attacks. Nevertheless, the recent issues only point up an issue regarding your global right, which is that your global editinterface rights should have been removed, as the reason for granting those rights over three years ago which doesn't seem to be valid anymore. Additionally, considering the recent issues on enwiki, I would like to allow the global community to voice itself about whether they still trust you with this right. As for your activity, aside from the 5 edits on the common.css on hak.wiki, I have only found edits in the MediaWiki namespace last year on it.wikivoyage and meta (where you already are a local admin). I personally do not feel this shows a continued need for the right. Cordially, Savhñ 22:12, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
As a procedural note, I have notified the other interface editors in the expired category, and will be removing their rights in a week if they do not respond. --Rschen7754 22:23, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
To reinforce what others have said above, editinterface rights are not meant to be assigned permanently, and should have been removed after the original task was done. If you want them back, you are free to open a request on SRGP, though in light of recent events I doubt that you would attain a level of support that would warrant the re-instatement of those rights. --Cinemantique (talk) 12:34, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Hello Cinemantique, has VPliousnine been informed about this, and has the vote been announced somewhere? I think it's important that everyone who might want to, gets the chance to voice their opinion. If the community hasn't been informed, would you consider doing that and extend the vote for one more week just to be sure? Thanks, Mathonius (talk) 13:45, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
Hello, Mathonius! Yes, sorry, we did it through an oversight. I've done things you asked (1, 2) and we'll be waiting for a week. Thank you for your attentiveness.--Cinemantique (talk) 14:21, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Katie Filbert (WMDE)@wikidatawiki

I was given bureaucrat rights at the very beginning when wikidata was created. I don't see a reason to still have them. If there is a bug related to bureaucrat functionality, I can test on test.wikidata. I rarely ever use the staff account, but once in while there might be a technical issue with deleted items or something where admin rights would still be useful. So I'd like just bureaucrat rights removed. --Katie Filbert (WMDE) (talk) 19:48, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Done  — billinghurst sDrewth 22:48, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
According to d:Wikidata:Contact the developers WMDE staff accounts separate from their volunteer accounts are identified by the "(WMDE)" in their username and the assigned sysop and bureaucrat rights. I assume this removal could cause some confusion. Vogone talk 13:02, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
What you we have at Wikidata is your WD's business, if it is now wrong, then please have it updated.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:04, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
No, it's not my business. The rules weren't set up by the community and thus I can't do anything to resolve this issue locally. Vogone talk 13:11, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
I don't think we can do anything either. It's a local policy and you should discuss it with the local community and/or with the WMDE staff. Trijnsteltalk 13:15, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Which was the meaning in my comment. It is nothing for stewards.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:23, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
(Edit conflict.)Yes, and I wasn't blaming billinghurst for the removal. I just made a general note which provided a reason why it might have been senseful not to remove these rights and that this removal might cause some confusion, in the hope that Katie would notice it and stewards maybe ask before removing in future cases. Possibly this request was even coordinated with the rest of the staff team so that some clarification might be helpful. Vogone talk 13:26, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
No. That is a contact page with statements, it is not a policy page. We do not force people to have rights they do not wish to maintain. The rights are a matter for the community, and that is where the conversation should be taking place, not here. I have started the conversation on the talk page of that one at WD, which is where any further discussion should take place.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:31, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Maybe I am wrong but I understand “Wikidata developers can have clearly marked staff accounts (in the form "Fullname (WMDE)"), and these can receive admin and bureaucrat rights.” as a discretionary provision. Hence, if she doesn't want to receive admin and/or bureaucrat rights, she doesn't have to. Now she asks for removal of one of these rights which should be fine according to the statement. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 13:36, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
