Administrator access

@MF-Warburg: I guess he isn't pointing to Wong128hk, but @Midleading: as per s:zh:Wikisource:管理员#現時的管理员提名 (is from a temporary administrator who wanna get permanent administrator right). However, even this user, currently the request has one support and one neutral votes, which doesn't seem OK to get permanent... --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 04:19, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
I see the user Assoc is now blocked. Whatever may be the situation with the zh.ws RFA, a new and correct request should be filed here, if something is to be done. --MF-W 14:11, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
@MF-Warburg: Up to now, Midleading has four support votes, and the request was filed. --Horizon Sunset (talk) 01:40, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

Wittylama@Wikimania2018

I'm requesting admin rights on this year's Wikimania conference wiki, in my role as Program Committee chair. Wittylama (talk) 14:26, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

Done @Wittylama: May be you want to be a bureaucrat? This will free stewards from managing this wiki. Ruslik (talk) 20:41, 1 February 2018 (UTC)
Thank you Ruslik0 and yes, that would be helpful. My first act would be to make Discott an admin - he's the conference coordinator and president of the local Chapter. Could you also make user:EYoung (WMF) a bureaucrat on the Wikimania Wiki? She's the WMF event manager after all, and 'the buck stops with her' on all things Wikimania. Wittylama (talk) 12:36, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
Wittylama - you're now a bureaucrat there and therefore you can now flag admins and bureaucrats yourself. I'll update the community portal page accordingly but please watch it for possible new right requests. Thanks. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 12:42, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

Thank you very much! Hopefully the new power doesn't go to my head mwah-ha-ha-ha! :-) Wittylama (talk) 16:34, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

I request for the prolongation of admin rights for 2 years for both admins (the last request was granted for 18 months. After 3 weeks of discussion being open no user has objected. Both admins make admin and clean-up actions (see logs [2] and [3]) however SL Wikiversity is still quite disciplined wiki community of a few student projects so there is not much admin work to be done. Avraham@meta

I successfully underwent a meta RfA soon after I became a Steward so as to ensure any administrative actions I did on Meta met with the approval of the community. This was at a time when the automatic administrator status on meta that came with the Steward role was somewhat controversial. As I will be stepping down as a Steward shortly, it makes sense for me to return the administrator bit as well. If I return to more active status in the future, I will resubmit an RfA if necessary. Thank you. -- Avi (talk) 23:10, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

@Avraham: Why don't you wait till the end of Steward confirmations? Maybe you'll change your mind after this. RadiX 13:59, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
If you really want to relinquish the bit it can be removed, but I disagree with the reasoning given. You passed an RfA therefore you're an administrator in right of this project. You shouldn't be worried to use your admin bit after you leave the stewards team. Thanks. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 22:21, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
I'm stepping down as a steward due to lack of time and availability to support the projects as I should. Unfortunately, I don't see myself able to give more than the minimum of time to any project other than Enwiki, and even there I'll probably give up OS/CU, so I don't want to hold hats just because I have them. I've worn more hats than most anyone in greater Wikimedia, I'm OK with letting them go when I cannot use them for their intended purpose. If I had the time to be a Meta Admin, I wouldn't be stepping down as a steward. Thank you for your kind words of support! -- Avi (talk) 01:00, 11 February 2018 (UTC)

I would like to note that the user has actually edited since then, but not on da-wiki. As far as I know our policy on administrator inactivity does not specify whether or not only local edits count, and when it comes to removal of access I think such ambiguity should be interpreted in favor of the person likely to lose access. InsaneHacker (talk) 16:12, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
It isn't the role of stewards to decide what the local policy means. If there is ambiguity in how the local community chooses to interpret the policy, then you should establish a local consensus first and then bring the requested action to us. I will say that I haven't heard of any project allowing edits or actions on other wikis to count towards an activity requirement. – Ajraddatz (talk) 17:47, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
We usually only look at local contributions when talking about inactive administrators. I have, however, mentioned it at w:da:Wikipedia-diskussion:Administratorer.

I will propose that an execution is postponed 14 days until 2018-03-04 23.59 UTC, so that that Danish Wikipedia has time to exactly define the rules. --Madglad (talk) 19:09, 18 February 2018 (UTC)

As mentioned on the local discussion page (see link above), ro.wikisource has been subject to constant vandalisms (see recent changes page). That also includes obscenities and vandalism pages. As a long time patroller on this project, it seems that most of them are made by school kids. And for some reason or another, there some pages that were constantly vandalized. And they are always anonymous and almost never the same IPs. Anyway, there are two admins at ro.wikisource. Unfortunately, one of them is inactive for over 2 years and the other one inactive since October 2016. According to local policy, they should probably have their rights removed... Hello, I'm an active user of Portuguese version of Wikipedia, and I always try my best to help contribute with the Mirandese and Portuguese versions, collaborating on the articles, recommendations, templates and also in other Wikimedia projects. Unfortunately, the Mirandese version of Wikipedia has only one active administrator, in my request for adminship there is no against votes and have 1 support vote. Currently, there are few editors in the Mirandese version to judge and vote, that's why I'm request here. Are you affected by a global or local IP block? Ruslik (talk) 19:44, 10 February 2018 (UTC)
Local. KATMAKROFAN (talk) 20:59, 10 February 2018 (UTC)
Then you have to ask for a local IPBE. Global IPBE is for global blocks. See w:WP:IPEC. Specifically the section "How to request". --Majora (talk) 23:05, 10 February 2018 (UTC)
Not done - @KATMAKROFAN: please visit the link Majora put above, or w:WP:UTRS to request local exemption. – Ajraddatz (talk) 23:40, 10 February 2018 (UTC)
