MinT for Wikipedia Readers MVP search not finding an existing language version for the "Tomate" article
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

As part of MinT for Wikipedia Readers MVP (T359072), the Search step (T359494) allows users to find articles to translate.
In the current implementation, searching for the Tomate article from Spanish Wikipedia results in a selection where Spanish could not be selected as a source article.

The sequence of steps to reproduce is illustrated below:

Select Spanish -> English as language pairSearch in Spanish for "tomate"Observe how the language pair becomes Estonian ("eesti") -> English......and Spanish cannot be selected as source

en.m.wikipedia.org_wiki_Special_AutomaticTranslation(Wiki Mobile) (3).png (568×320 px, 24 KB)

Alternatively you can also try pasting https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomate in the search tep to get the same result.

The expected result would be to be able to get the translation of the "Tomate" article form Spanish into English when selecting that language pair.
