The ELI-NP Centre is one of the most prestigious research infrastructures in the world in the field of extreme light.
Despre noi

The Shallow GSHP System's operating accomplishments will be presented at EGA 2024 following an analysis of the long-term monitoring data. ELI-NP took a big step in the direction of responsible environmental usage by installing the largest Shallow GSHP System in Europe. Also, optimization of the system in operation labels the steps taken to make rational use of resources. The 1.2 MW photovoltaic system that is intended to be integrated into the ELI-NP infrastructure in conjunction with the shallow GSHP system that is currently in operation would allow for the testing of the built environment's energy autonomy and environmental impact, as well as the identification of strategies for separating the costs of energy consumption from the expansion of floor area. To conclude, #eli_np has the potential to align with contemporary practices and support efforts to transform the energy industry. #magurelescience #GreenEnergy #eligreen

#themostpowerfullasersintheworld #elinppartnerships #magurelescience #Thales Under the joint initiative of Thales and ELI-NP, a trip of science journalists from Europe was organized, meant to showcase the performances and perspectives of the Center’s High Power Lasers. The participants had the unique opportunity to meet and discuss with key figures from Thales and ELI-NP/IFIN-HH, managers and scientists, learning the basics and sharing their experiences with Professor Gerard Mourou, the 2018 Nobel Laureate for Physics, who made these HPLs possible, and who started and led the Extreme Light Infrastructure project to its fulfillment. A consistent press coverage of this event and its outcomes followed (by France Press, ANSA, Agerpres, Le Monde, Le Figaro, Le Point, Frankfurter Algemeine Zeitung, Les Echos, ABC, El Confidencial, Wyborcza, Radio Romania Actualitati a.o.), taken over by media worldwide.

[#Laser] Thales and Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics Center (ELI-NP) were happy last week to celebrate together in presence of Gérard Mourou, 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics, initiator of ELI - Extreme Light Infrastructure's project and inventor of the Chirped Pulse Amplification principle, 10 years of successful partnership. Excellent collaboration between Thales and ELI-NP teams have made possible great achievements that led in April 2023 to the first 10 PW laser pulses on solid target. ELI-NP, the #NuclearPhysics pillar of the Extreme Light Infrastructure ELI , is the most advanced research facility in the world that brings together, for the first time, High Power Lasers and Nuclear Physics. Implemented by the Horia Hulubei National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering - IFIN-HH , ELI-NP is the largest investment ever made in scientific research in #Romania. Thanks to #Thales high power laser system, ELI-NP can pursue advanced studies in basic science - characterization of laser-matter interaction, particle acceleration, nuclear reactions in plasma, photonuclear reactions, nuclear astrophysics and nucleosynthesis - but also studies in applied research developing technologies for medical or industrial applications. #science #innovation #particleacceleration #nuclearfusion #NobelPrize Domenico Doria, christophe derycke, Ioan Dancus, Gérard Mourou, Nicolae Marius Mărginean, Victor Malka, Yann GERARD, Bernhard Quendt, Franck Leibreich https://lnkd.in/gAqUny7u https://lnkd.in/d7TdpAyE

Va invitam cu mandrie sa ascultati un interviu realizat in parteneriat cu Radio România Cultural, in cadrul emisiunii "Nascut in Romania", prilej cu care colega noastra, Nicoleta Safca , povesteste cu atata devotament despre munca sa: "Cercetarea este modalitatea prin care tu poți avea un impact. (...) Mai mic sau mai mare, dar (...) munca ta poate să reprezinte baza pentru ceva mult mai mare" https://lnkd.in/dj9gzBV9 #ELINPPartnerships #PeopleofELINP #MagureleScience

Student Meetings at #eli_np Every end of the month, the bachelor, master, PhD, and postdoc students gather for their #studentmeetings. Because we believe in sharing knowledge, on the 4th edition, two of them contributed with presentations on their research work on machine learning and quantum optics and one presented a paper for the journal club. This initiative started in September 2023 and aims to bring together all young researchers at ELI-NP, to practice and improve their ways of delivering public scientific talks, to receive feedback and create new collaborations and social connections. The 3 presentations were: Vlad Gaciu - Classification of laser beam profiles using machine learning at the ELI-NP high power laser system Karunesh Mishra - Beyond Light: A Journey from Photons to Precision Measurement in Quantum Optics Journal Club – Juliana Margineanu - Detection of metabolic change in glioblastoma cells after radiotherapy using hyperpolarized 13C‐MRI #themostpowerfullasersintheworld #magurelescience #youngresearcher

ELI-NP team has integrated into its equipment a Zeiss AXIO Observer Z1 microscope, complemented by GLIM technology from Phi Optics. This acquisition marks a significant stride in advancing our capacity to investigate radiobiological phenomena and the effects of radiation exposure. The incorporation of the microscope, coupled with GLIM technology, underscores our commitment to rigorous scientific inquiry in radiobiology. This state-of-the-art equipment facilitates high-precision, time-lapse imaging of live cells, enabling the elucidation of intricate cellular responses to radiation stimuli. Leveraging GLIM's Gradient Light Interference Microscopy alongside Zeiss optics, we are afforded unparalleled insights into radiation-induced cellular processes, including DNA damage and repair mechanisms, cellular signaling pathways, and the broader ramifications of radiation therapy. Moreover, the seamless integration of a cellular incubator within our experimental setup ensures meticulous control over environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, and oxygen levels. This precision engineering not only enhances experimental reproducibility but also fosters optimal conditions for studying the effects of radiation on biological specimens. The capabilities of the Zeiss AXIO Observer Z1 microscope with GLIM technology extend beyond conventional imaging methodologies. By harnessing these advanced tools, we are empowered to undertake cell tomography and examine both in vivo and in vitro radiation effects with unprecedented clarity and contrast. This capability opens avenues for comprehensive investigations into radiobiological phenomena, enabling the acquisition of nuanced insights into the intricate interplay between radiation and biological systems. Our investment in cutting-edge microscopy and imaging technology reflects our unwavering dedication to pushing the boundaries of radiobiological research. #eli_np #themostpowerfullasersintheworld #magurelescience
