Trauma

Trauma is the name doctors have for a physical injury caused by something outside the body. Depending on what was injured there are different kinds of traumas.

  • Trauma (medicine)
    • Blunt trauma, trauma that comes from being hit by a blunt object
    • Blast injury, physical trauma caused by an explosion
    • Psychological trauma, results if someone witnesses something that he or she is unable to cope with on his or her own. Such traumas can occur after cases of sexual abuse, for example.
  • Trauma center, a hospital that provides emergency medical services to trauma victims
