Copilot sidebar in Edge "unable to connect to the service"

Copper Contributor

Hello Everyone,

We are having intermittent issues with the Copilot sidebar in Edge. It works sometimes, and other times we get an error that says "We're sorry but we're unable to connect to the service at this time." It has a refresh button which doesn't help. What's weird, is that we have Copilot licenses enabled for our users and going to https://bing.com/chat works fine in all cases (and shows the user signed in and "protected" as expected).

Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions to fix this issue?

Brian

Open Microsoft Edge browser then go to Settings > Sidebar > from there just disable Copilot. Close the browser then go the same path/settings and enable Copilot.

If the issue persist try resetting Microsoft Edge, click on Settings > Reset Settings > Restore settings to their default values > Reset.

Did anyone find this solution to work?

No and it seems we are all experiencing this issue at the same time.

@gc-bclark Looks like now is a bigger issue. I'm having the same issue. I thought it was my account, but it is not working as well in another laptop.

I thought it was something when I migrated to PRO, but looks to have no relationship.

Several Microsoft services are down right now, including Copilot and Bing. The outage began around 3 AM ET on May 23, 2024. Users in Asia and Europe appear to be the ones primarily affected by the issue. More information can be found in the admin center under CP795190
Is there any update on this? mine stopped to work on May 23 and is still not working.
