Hyundai Inster EV micro SUV revealed globally: India launch details, range, features and more

The Inster will be offered with two battery pack options - 42kWh and 49kWh. Both will come paired with a single electric motor which puts out 95bhp for the smaller pack and 113bhp, 147Nm torque for the bigger battery pack. Both battery packs use the nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) chemistry and all Insters get a heat pump and 85kW (DC) charging capabilities as standard.

Korean Automaker Hyundai has revealed the Hyundai Inster EV micro SUV. The Inster will be the entry-level electric vehicle from Hyundai and is based on a modified platform of the popular Casper sub-compact micro SUV. The all-electric Inster shares most of its underpinnings with the 3.5-meter-long ICE Casper. The company has stretched the Casper’s platform by 230mm, out of which 180mm has been added to its wheelbase.

In terms of design, the Inster takes design inspiration from Casper.
It gets modern-retro styling with circular LED DRLs with pixel-themed turn indicators embedded in a black bar above. Between the DRLs, it features a black rectangular piece that houses the front camera, ADAS sensor and the charging port.

In terms of dimensions, the Inster EV measures 3,825mm in length, 1,610mm in width, and 1,575mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,580mm. It has a boot space of 280 litres and can be further extended to up to 351 litres with folding rear seats. At the sides, the Inster gets chunky wheel arches with four-spoke alloy wheels. Other highlights include pillar-mounted rear door handles, roof rails and multiple cuts with creases which gives it a sharp look.

At the rear, the design is bold with pixel-themed taillights spanning across the width with the hyundai logo on the centre. The wheel arches extend up to the bumper which houses the circular taillamps and parking lights. other highlights include an integrated spoiler with a diffuser, shark fin antenna and high-mounted stop lamp.

Moving inside, the interior layout is very different from other Hyundai models. It follows a retro design with quirky-looking air-con vents. In terms of features, it gets twin 10.25-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen, automatic climate control, wireless charger, three-spoke steering wheel with a steering column-mounted drive mode selector, ventilated front seats, 360-degree surround camera, ambient lighting, blind spot monitor, sunroof, ADAS suite and more.

Now talking about the electric motor and battery, the Inster will be offered with two battery pack options - 42kWh and 49kWh. Talking about the range, the 42kWh has a claimed range of around 300km with 0-100kph sprint time of 11.7sec and a top speed of 140 kph. The bigger 49kWh has a claimed range of 350km with 0-100kph sprint time of 10.6sec and a top speed of 150 kph. The company has not announced any details on India launch yet. It’s expected that Hyundai India might bring in after Creta EV to rival Citroen eC3 and Punch EV
