Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Highway: MVA MLCs protest
Mumbai: The state Legislative Council was adjourned for 10 minutes after Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) MLCs walked into the well shooting slogans demanding the scrapping of the Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Highway.
Responding to a Calling Attention Motion (CAM) by Congress MLC Satej Patil, Shiv Sena minister Dada Bhule said that the land acquisition process for the highway had not started yet and no environmental permissions have been sought so far.
However, the MVA MLCs demanded a complete scrapping of the project and said that an old road along the same route already existed and there was no need to acquire land and construct a new highway. Deputy chairperson Neelam Gorhe then adjourned the house for 10 minutes amid sloganeering by the MVA MLCs in the well.
