UDAIPUR: Two persons were killed and 27 injured when a govt bus carrying several passengers overturned on Saturday afternoon in Dhariyavad, Pratapgarh district.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver lost control while trying to avoid a wild animal that suddenly appeared on the road.
The bus, en route from Udaipur to Pratapgarh, overturned in the Bansi Ghat area of Seetamata Forest Sanctuary under the Dhariyavad police station.
Several passengers became trapped underneath the overturned bus.
Two people, including a young girl, died at the scene. Both victims were residents of Dhariyavad police station area. To manage the situation, the administration deployed a JCB and a crane to lift the bus.
According to medical officer of Dhariyavad Hospital, a medical team was immediately dispatched to the scene upon receiving the information.
Of the 27 injured passengers brought to the hospital, 20 were discharged after initial treatment. Seven patients, suffering from bone fractures and serious injuries, were referred to hospitals in Udaipur and Pratapgarh for further treatment.
