Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan's film 'Maharaj' was in legal trouble as the Hindu Vishwa Parishad had filed a petition in High Court. A group of the pushtimargiya sect had gone to High Court and filed a plea requesting to stop the release of the movie. They said it would hurt religious sentiments of the sect. The case was on going in the Gujarat High Court for the last few days and the High Court had given a stay order to the movie which was supposed to release on June 14.
However, the latest news is that the court has cleared the movie.
The judge of the Gujarat High Court watched the film on Thursday evening and has cleared it in the final hearing which took place today afternoon. The court mentioned that there is nothing objectionable in the movie and it would not make any impact on the sect. The film is based on the Maharaja Libel Case which took place in 1862 and is based on the book on it. The judge suggested that the Vaishnav sect is flourishing and there has been no change in the religious sentiments of the devotees of the sect after the book was published. Hence, even now, the movie woud not make any difference to the sect.
The court has now cleared the film and given its permission to release it. Hence, Yash Raj Films and Netflix can begin the streaming anytime soon.
'Maharaj' directed by Sidharth Malhotra, also stars Sharvari Wagh, Shalini Pandey, Jaideep Ahlawat, apart from Junaid Khan.
