Jyeshtha Purnima 2024: Significance
Jyeshtha Purnima holds a great religious and spiritual significance as Purnima Tithi has its own special importance.
On this auspicious day, Moon appears in its full form and in a happy and giving state. It is believed that Moon showers blessing on earth in the form of its rays. This time, Purnima is falling during the month of Jyeshtha and as the name suggests Jyeshtha, this month is considered as an eldest and the most auspicious one so observing fast, performing puja rituals and hawan or yajna is beneficial.

On the auspicious Full Moon day, devotees visit various spiritual places and temples where they express their gratitude to the Lord Vishnu. A large number of devotees visit Ganga ghat to take holy dip in Ganga river. Taking a holy dip in Ganga river is highly meritorious. Many devotees observe satyanarayan vrat and offer prayers to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi.
Jyeshtha Purnima 2024: Puja Rituals
Wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath in Ganga river. Those who can not visit Ganga ghat, they can take bath at home and clean the puja room. Fast observers must light a diya with desi ghee in a temple. Satyanarayan Puja can be performed any time but make sure you do it before moon rise. Place an idol of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi or shree yantra. Light a diya with desi ghee, place a kalash with water and offer yellow flower garland. Offer prepared prasad (Panjeeri along with banana, Panchamrit and Tulsi Patra). Recite Satyanarayan Katha and chant aarti - Om Jai Jagdish Hare and Jai Laxmi Ramana. In the end, they must offer bhog prasad to the Lord and put some prasad in that kalash and offer that water to Moon God. After completing puja rituals, they can break their fast by having sattvik food without onion and garlic.
