The Mumbai Cricket Association will conduct the election of its interim president, following the untimely demise of it's president Amol Kale in New York (where he went to watch the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan) on June 10, at a Special General Meeting (SGM) on July 23 at the Wankhede Stadium.

MUMBAI: The Mumbai Cricket Association will conduct the election of its interim president, following the untimely demise of it's president Amol Kale in New York (where he went to watch the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan) on June 10, at a Special General Meeting (SGM) on July 23 at the Wankhede Stadium.
In a notice (TOI has a copy) to the association's members, MCA secretary Ajinkya Naik has written: "A Special General Meeting of the Association has been convened in accordance with rule no 9 (1) (b) and rule no 14 (9) (0) of memorandum of Association rules and regulations of the association on Tuesday, 23rd July 2024 at 2.45pm at the MCA Lounge, Wankhede Stadium." The agenda of the meeting has been mentioned as: "Election and induction of (1) post of president of MCA."
Detailing the timeline of the MCA's presidential election, the association's Electoral Officer JS Saharia has mentioned that the 'election program' will be declared on June 24.
The period of inviting names of representatives from the member clubs and from the former international players will be between June 25-July 2. The list of representatives and former international players will be released on July 3.
The nominations for the post of president can be filed between July 4-10. The scrutiny and announcement of the valid candidates will take place on July 11. The deadline to withdraw nominations is July 16, and the announcement of the final list of contesting candidates will be done the same day. On July 23, the election will be held from 3-6pm, with the counting and declaration of the new president's name immediately on completion of polls.
