Manali Dey is nostalgic as she concludes her journey as Shimul on ‘Kar Kache Koi Moner Katha’

Manali Dey is bidding goodbye to one of her most beloved characters on-screen. The Tollywood actress, who is currently seen as Shimul on ‘Kar Kache Koi Moner Katha’ running on one of the most popular Bengali television channels, has wrapped up shooting for the Bengali soap. The mega serial is to go off-air soon.
Manali recently shared a reel on Instagram that has been shot in time-lapse mode.
The reel shows the transformation of Manali into Shimul, the female protagonist of ‘Kar Kache Koi Moner Katha’. From arriving at the shooting studio and sitting in the makeup chair to becoming Shimul before the camera – it is evident from the reel that Manali is going to miss it all.

‘Kar Kache Koi Moner Katha’ started its journey in July, last year. The Bengali show has not yet completed a year of its run. But the mega serial has been struggling to find a good spot on the rating chart because of its consistently low TRP. The show initially started with the idea of portraying female friendship on screen. The show had an interesting storyline that followed the journey of a newlywed girl (Shimul) who struggled to find her place to belong to her in-laws’ family. Shimul was not accepted by either her husband nor her in-laws. A dejected Shimul found her tribe in the women in her neighbourhood. She made unique friendships with her neighbours and found solace in sisterhood.

However, as the story progressed – the focus of the story deviated from its original concept. Shimul’s husband Parag evolved into a better husband and grew fonder to Shimul. Shimul too came closer to her husband and settled with her in-laws. As Shimul focused more on her domestic life with Parag and her in-laws, the essence of female friendship and sisterhood began to vanish from the story. The change in the subject of the story reflected on the TRP list and the show struggled to keep the audience engaged with the show.

‘Kar Kache Koi Moner Katha’ featured some of the most popular faces from the Bengali industry in prominent roles. Besides Manali Dey, Sneha Chatterjee, Basabdatta Chatterjee, Srijani Mitra, Kuyasha Biswas were seen in vital roles on the show. Dronn Mukherjee played the character of Parag, and Rita Dutta Chakraborty essayed the role of his mother Madhubala Banerjee.
