The highly anticipated trailer for the twin drama series 'Bad Cop' has been released. Directed by Aditya Datt and written by Rensil D'Silva, this series promises to be a mass entertainer and will be available for streaming on an OTT platform. The release date is set for June 21, 2024.
'Bad Cop', reimagined for India from the German drama, stars Gulshan Devaiah as twins Karan and Arjun.
Karan is a strong cop, while Arjun is a clever thief. Their lives unexpectedly intertwine, changing them forever. Anurag Kashyap plays the manipulative villain Kazbe Mama. Harleen Sethi is the honest cop Devika, and Saurabh Sachdeva and Aishwarya Sushmita also have key roles in this thrilling series.
As reported in News18, Director Aditya Datt talked about the series and said that 'Bad Cop' is like an original cult masala story with a captivating storyline, a deadly villain and a hero in a double role. He has always been an avid watcher of twin dramas, so when he was working on 'Bad Cop' with Rensil, Aradhana and the team, they knew this element would be their hook. They have designed the action and chase sequences from scratch and have hoped to provide the audiences with a larger-than-life viewing experience. With actors like Anurag, Gulshan, Harleen, and Saurabh, they wanted to bring a sense of realism to the story. They are all actors who come from a very different school of cinema, and what they bring to the table, no one else can. Audiences are in for a treat and he hopes they enjoy this one.
Discussing the series and his role, Anurag Kashyap said that Kazbe mama is a one-of-a-kind villain. His aura is charismatic and lethal at the same time. He was scared and sceptical when shooting for gore scenes; as opposed to his films. Kazbe is powerful, and hard-hitting and he drew traits from many of the negative characters that he had created, to prepare for this role. Fremantle India and Aditya are great collaborators, and this show has brought to light a very different side of him. He had no process for Kazbe, in fact, he was inspired by Nana Patekar from Parinda and Irrfan Khan from Haasil. He takes the script only before he shoots it and the dialogue writer would help him how to approach it. It’s cathartic for him to play a negative character and he takes it all out of his system. He hopes audiences enjoy him in this avatar.
