South Korean actor Kim Seon-ho is gearing up for a return to the small screen with his upcoming series ‘The Tyrant’, set to premiere on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The streaming platform unveiled the drama's release date and debuted a striking poster on Monday, July 8, 2024, signaling the anticipation surrounding this highly anticipated production.

‘The Tyrant’ revolves around a secret South Korean government program focused on enhancing human abilities through advanced scientific samples. When the program's existence is exposed to US Intelligence, urgent demands for its shutdown and the surrender of all samples ensue. However, amidst the handover process, a critical sample goes missing, sparking a high-stakes race between two nations to retrieve it before it falls into the wrong hands, potentially unleashing unforeseen consequences.
Headlining the star-studded cast is Kim Seon-Ho in the key role of Director Choi Gook-Jang, the mastermind behind the secretive project. Joining him is Jo Yoon-Soo as Chae Ja-Gyeong, an infiltrator tasked with pilfering the last remaining sample, and Cha Seung-Won portraying Im-Sang, a ruthless mercenary hired to eliminate anyone linked to the program. Rounding out the ensemble is Kim Kang-Woo as Paul, a seasoned US Intelligence agent.
Accompanying the release date announcement, Disney Plus unveiled an intriguing poster that perfectly aligns with the series' gripping premise. Against a backdrop of intense red and saturated dark blue hues, the poster ominously declares, "The last sample has disappeared", teasing the central mystery that drives the narrative.
‘The Tyrant’ marks Kim Seon-ho's much-anticipated return to television after a three-year hiatus following his role in the beloved series ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha' in 2021. His hiatus stemmed from a public controversy in late 2021 when his ex-girlfriend accused him of pressuring her to undergo an abortion. In 2023, Seon-ho made a comeback to entertainment with the action thriller film ‘The Childe’, setting the stage for his eagerly awaited series comeback in ‘The Tyrant’.
