The 3rd stop on the #TasteOfCricket tour was Exwick Cricket Club in Exeter, which has become a real hub for the community, welcoming in Afghan and Ukrainian refugees to play and really driving inclusion for women and girls. The day saw kids and adults matches take place, an appearance from England Women's legend Lydia Greenway, and of course some delicious food including Braai Chicken and Traditional Boerewors to reflect their South African members, as well as vegetarian Kabuli Pulao - a traditional dish in Afghanistan. #RaisingTheGame Remitly

We are working with England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to #appoint their next #Chair of Cricket Discipline Panel. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the national governing body for all cricket in England and Wales, supporting the game at every level – from grassroots to professional. The ECB is now seeking to appoint a Chair of the Cricket Discipline Panel (CDP) as part of various changes being made in respect of it. The CDP will be the ECB’s new independent tribunal, responsible for adjudicating on certain regulatory disciplinary matters within professional cricket on behalf of the ECB Board. Its function is to consider cases brought before it by the Cricket Regulator (the body responsible for monitoring compliance with and enforcement of adherence to the game’s regulations on behalf of the ECB) in relation to the ECB’s disciplinary regulations and other rules and/or regulations which contain disciplinary powers to be discharged by the CDP (the ‘Regulations’). This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with suitable legal and sports disciplinary expertise to influence the future of cricket’s disciplinary panel structure. As Chair, the successful candidate will be presiding over specific disciplinary cases, appointing the other members of the CDP, and allocating those individuals to hear specific cases. This is a high-profile and exciting role which would suit an experienced barrister, solicitor or judge who holds extensive knowledge of best practice in conducting sports disciplinary matters and arbitrations in an arbitral (or judicial) capacity. To succeed in this role, the successful candidate will not only have the required skills and experience around sports disciplinary matters, but also have a passion for sport and be motivated to draw on their demonstrable track record to fulfil the CDP’s role as an effective independent tribunal. England cricket legends Dean Headley, Norman Cowans and Devon Malcolm, as well as former British athletics heroes Dalton Grant and Tony Jarrett, were among the stars at yesterday’s African Caribbean Cricket Festival, hosted by the ECB in partnership with the ACE Programme and Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. The festival, now in its second year, celebrates the legacy and influence of Black communities in cricket while inspiring younger generations to connect with their cricketing heritage. More than 1,000 people came together to celebrate, including over 100 young girls and boys from across the country who participated in All Stars and Dynamos cricket sessions, guided by cricketing legends. These pioneers paved the way for younger generations of Black cricketers, whose talents were showcased on the pitch during Sunday’s event. The day featured two T20 matches and a whole host of authentic African Caribbean food, music, and culture, including a a heated Dominoes tournament that brought together teams from all over the country! https://lnkd.in/eEa_tiqm..

Women and children from the local community in Bolton came together to enjoy some cricket taster sessions run by Lancashire Cricket Foundation and delicious food prepared by local passionate chefs who are also members of the club. Curries and samosas were on the menu, fuelling lots of cricket action on the pitch! Two years ago cricket wasn’t on the agenda for children at Hawthorn Primary School, an inner city state school in Newcastle upon Tyne. But since then, pupils have been getting free coaching funded by the ECB and delivered by Chance to Shine NORTHUMBERLAND CRICKET BOARD LIMITED as part of our increased investment in state school cricket - and the impact has been remarkable. England Men’s Test Captain Ben Stokes visited the school to see for himself how much the children are enjoying it, and the benefits the teachers are seeing. Head teacher Jane Dube writes here about the impact she’s seen: https://lnkd.in/ei-4aKcH This year, working with Chance To Shine, we’re delivering free cricket in more than 4,300 state schools. Many of them are in underserved areas, in schools like Hawthorn where more than 40% of children are eligible for free school meals. In the next five years we aim to reach millions more children so they too can experience the benefits which cricket brings.
