Making communications work for everyone
About us
Ofcom is the UK's communications regulator. We make sure people get the best from their home phone and mobile services, as well as keeping an eye on TV, radio and on-demand content. We also ensure people don’t get scammed and are protected from bad practice. We also oversee the universal postal service, and the airwaves used by wireless devices. Right now, technology is changing how people work, interact and enjoy themselves. Much of our work is focused on making sure everybody has access to the communications technology they need and that competition can thrive.

Did you go to Glastonbury last weekend? 🎸🎶 We were there working hard behind the scenes. Our Spectrum team played a headline role in making sure the festival ran smoothly. 🎤 This included planning the frequencies used for things like microphones, in ear monitors and wireless cameras - helping to ensure interference-free performances across the festival. Find out more about what we got up to and our role at major events like Glasto 👇 https://lnkd.in/eh7DqMVv #Glastonbury2024

Snapchat has introduced new measures to protect its users - including changes to help prevent teenagers being contacted by strangers. Commenting on these new protections, Richard Wronka, Online Safety Supervision Director at Ofcom, said: “Children will be better protected on Snapchat as a result of the platform implementing this package of measures. "Under the Online Safety Act, we’ve proposed that larger and higher-risk services should make sure children don’t get direct messages from accounts with which they’re not already connected, and that their location information should not be visible to other users.” More on Snapchat's changes: https://lnkd.in/ej4T6ii6
