What is the prognosis of nasopalatine nerve severance during paediatric dental surgeries? This recent study in the #FDJ highlights key findings in 28 patients: 🔸 Severing the nasopalatine nerve during surgery on palatally impacted teeth in children does not result in long-term sensory issues. 🔸 Informed consent and discussion of risks remain crucial. 🔸 Uneventful healing is common, with any temporary paraesthesia typically resolving within months. This evaluation highlights the resilience of young patients and the potential for positive outcomes in complex dental procedures. For more insights, read the full study: https://ow.ly/FFVJ50SzuC8

Managing trauma in pregnant women presents unique challenges due to physiological changes and fetal considerations. In July's #Annals, we highlight a recent study surveying 125 acute NHS trusts in England and 6 in Wales, which revealed a lack of consistency in guidelines. This study found that: ▪️ 19% of trusts have specific guidelines for managing major trauma in pregnant women. ▪️ 7.9% have generic guidelines that include trauma management. ▪️ 69.8% routinely involve obstetrics in trauma calls, but only 36.5% involve paediatrics. Would implementing national guidelines save lives? Read to find out: https://ow.ly/vLym50SuBmf
