I have an elderly cat who needs to be fed little and often, including during the night! Those 3am feeds were starting to bite me so I had to try this bowl! It is a very well made bowl, larger than I thought and very sturdy. It was easy to set up and is easy to keep clean. Kitty was very suspicious at first but I fed her using the open section at every meal the first day. She didn't eat the timed meal the first attempt. I decided to use the timer during the day on day two and she ate those. The second 3 am feed she ate everything. Now I know that I have 2 timed meals available so if I wanted to go out I could! The mini ice pack keeps the food fresh even though it's been really warm lately. Honestly I don't know what I would do now without it! Well worth it. It has a low battery indicator so I don't have to worry about it and it's easy to reset the timers if I need to. All in all a great purchase!

We bought this pet feeder so our cats wouldn't be starving while we were out for the day. It's been a great success and we ended up buying another one. You can set the timers to a different time or the same times and the food is kept fresh within the bowl. This comes with one ice pack to place in the bottom under the bowls to help wet food stay cool and appetising. It would be good if Amazon would stock the replacement ice packs but we ended up buying some extra ones on an online auction site. The cats were much happier being left with fresh food instead of multiple bowls being left out for them, which get dried out and disgusting over the day. This is very reliable and the timers open the bowls when they're set for. We haven't once come back and found the bowls still shut. The timer takes one AA battery to work. The bowls are very easy to clean. Very pleased!

Bought this for when we're away for the day; got the three-meal one ie one meal you put on the open dish, and two meals on the timer.
I chose the digital timer version, a bit more expensive: as you can set a proper clock - 24 hours or 12 hours - rather than set periods of time between one meal and the next [that's too fiddly.]

Cat was afraid the first time the bowl rotated - it makes a rather off-putting noise - but the second time she was fine with it. She tried breaking into it, but it's like Fort Knox!
Dishes are ok, just about big enough but you wouldn't want to feed your cat all the time with these, it's tough on the whiskers! [yes, there is a thing called 'whisker fatigue' if a cat has to eat out of too-small bowl - irritates their sensitive whiskers.]
However, whilst three tests worked fine, when we actually needed it today as we were out all day - the second meal didn't arrive - the bowl didn't rotate. Fortunately it did serve her the first meal.

So it might be a good idea to set out a separate bowl of dry food, just in case. I don't think I'll use this a lot, as it's not totally reliable.

The other problem is that the digital timer is the size of a watch face, and the numerals are really small and faint. You can't see them, once you've put the bowl down.

So I've given the feeder a 4, but really it's a 3.5; useful but clearly not 100% reliable - but a good gadget when it works!

This is very basic but better for it. It only has one tray for food and no space for ice.. But it works on a very simple clockwork dial. You put the food in, shut the lid and then dial the number of hours you want to set for it to open. So there are no clocks to worry about, no digital displays..
Very simple and does the job well..

When I’m out all day He Who Must Be Obeyed complains bitterly of abandonment and starvation. But in this I have found a solution and He (etc) took to it in no time. In fact he’s been seen sitting staring at it with about 10 minutes to go and falls upon his food with wild abandon. I was away a few months ago and the harem of ladies who looked after him found not only lunch (12-13.00) but supper (8.00/9.00) can be left out in this way. Very useful for the odd day when I’m not head waitress but don’t want to worry about him. Battery life is good and it’s not easy to push about the kitchen.

We have had this cat bowl for a few weeks now. We recently acquired a cat and he doesn’t really like other people so its been difficult to go away.

I have used this device twice for wet food when we have gone away. It seems to keep the food nice and fresh when you use the ice pack.

The time allows you to set an opening time anything up to 48 hours later. It works without any particular problem and is easy to use (just adjust the dial for the amount of hours you want it to delay opening for). You can set a different timer for each bowl which has been a godsend for overnight trips

The height of the bowl is perfect for our average sized cat, it comes with feet if you want to prop it up higher. The only thing i would say is the individual cat bowls are not made of the thickest plastic but they seem durable enough for what they are.

Overall i would say i am very impressed with this product. I would recommend it to anyone who needs an automatic cat feeder. We have used this specifically for when we are away as opposed to daily feed but i’m sure that would work fine to.

Given there are many more expensive models on the market i think this product is good value for money and does everything we need it to.

After the first one worked so well I got two of these feeders in the past few months for my cat. When they work they are absolutely brilliant and I love them. So straightforward. Unfortunately one of them has lost time. I've changed the battery twice in the last couple of weeks but no dice — it still goes but slower so that I'm not quite sure when it will open but I know that it'll lose a few hours.

UPDATE: I went back to the website and clicked on the contact tab and sent the seller an email and they responded that day saying it was under warranty and to confirm details. They've sent out a new one. Can't fault that customer service

Update: I bought this back in May and it’s July, and for some reason the timer stopped working :( I changed the battery, but it’s disappointing that it stopped working— my cat sadly starved for 8+ hours while I was at work.

My cat eats on a schedule, 6 times a day. I work a 10-6 so I’m not always home to give him his 1pm & 5pm meal. The timer does go all the way to 48 hours, but from my observation the ice block is already warm after 8 hours and my home room temperature is about 70°F.

To the person who suggested putting a bell on the cover: GENIUS! And thank you for the idea. I used two of my cats bell toys and taped it on the top so he can hear it when it opens.

Holding the food for 4-8 hours is no problem, I can’t really speak on anything longer since I haven’t tried or had a reason to. The food stays fresh and isn’t dried out. I add two ice cubes to the side where the food stays longer, just for a peace of mind!

Works great, my cat learned how to use it the first day I left him home alone. The sound of the bell helps. Great value!!
