Shop with Points Service Terms for American Express Membership Rewards (UK)

By using Shop with Points with American Express Membership Rewards, you agree to these Service Terms and the other Amazon.co.uk Card Conditions of Use and Sale. Please review them carefully, together with our Privacy Notice, to understand our practices.

To use your American Express Membership Rewards points (“Points”) to purchase eligible items at Amazon.co.uk, your eligible Membership Rewards programme account (“Points Account”) will be linked to your Amazon.co.uk account after your first purchase with your American Express Card.

You need to indicate at the time of purchase that you wish to pay with Points. Your Points balance may not reflect your use of Points for pending purchase transactions until the purchase has shipped or otherwise been fulfilled by Amazon. If you do not have enough Points to pay for your purchase, Amazon will send you a payment clarification email. You must then pay for the full purchase transaction with your American Express Card or an Amazon.co.uk Gift Card.

We reserve the right to restrict your use of Shop with Points or to de-register your Points Account by de-linking it from your Amazon.co.uk account at any time in our sole discretion, including when we suspect misuse or fraud.

To enable you to use Shop with Points to purchase eligible items, Amazon EU S.À.R.L. and its affiliates (collectively, “Amazon”) share information that you have provided to Amazon with American Express Services Europe Limited and its affiliates (collectively, “American Express”) and vice versa. This information sharing allows us to link your Amazon.co.uk account to your Points Account, and, after your first purchase, American Express provides Amazon with information about your Points Account, including your Points balance, so that Amazon can perform its functions with respect to the Shop with Points programme, including showing you your Points balance. Amazon may also share information that you have provided to Amazon with American Express so that American Express can perform its functions with respect to the Shop with Points programme, including processing payments made with Points.

Certain items at Amazon.co.uk are not eligible for purchase using Points and these items may change at any time. Points may not be used when making purchases with 1-Click. Points may not currently be combined with other rewards programmes to make eligible purchases using Shop with Points at Amazon.co.uk.

Any refunds for purchases made using Shop with Points at Amazon.co.uk are subject to the Amazon.co.uk returns policy. If Amazon accepts a return for an item you purchased using only Points, those Points will be credited to your American Express Card as a statement credit. If Amazon accepts a return for an item you purchased using Points and another payment method, Amazon may, in its sole discretion, credit the return to the other payment method before crediting Points to your American Express Card as a statement credit.

Additional Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions apply and are available at membershiprewards.co.uk/terms or at americanexpress.co.uk/corporateMRterms for Corporate Membership Rewards Programme Administrators. If you have questions regarding your Points or your Points Account, please contact American Express on the number listed on the back of your Card. Tried to pay using amex points. Useless

Payment was declined. Amex say payment (on the card) wasn't declined. Amazon says the points part of the payment (out of my control - the amount was the points I had left) was declined. So I have stopped using Amex on Amazon as there seems to be no way around this. I'll swap my points for vouchers / gift cards in future (as this method at least worked in the past). On Amazon I have started using a different payment method. The pay with points seems a good idea but a declined payment is no use to me as the goods then are delayed and won't be delivered when I expect (so I cancelled).

I had a look at using my Amex points for this but, it is better value if I buy gift cards than use these points. With gift cards I get £275, for 55,000 points, with this product I only get £248. I don't really understand why there is a difference but there is so I'll stick with the gift cards for now.

    Reasonable placing for good quality.

Kept getting same msg on Amazon that card info I submitted didn't match Amex account info and I needed to correct this before I could register for scheme. Have been advised by Amex that only certain cards are eligible and mine isn't one of them. Amazon are generating erroneous messages by default and should be clear about why applications are unsuccessful. Perhaps it would be helpful to print a list of the qualifying Amex cards prominently at the beginning of the T&C's to save other people the inconvenience I've just experienced.

I got this error message that the payment via reward points is not supported via mobile and I was advised to use a desktop. This is very inconvenient since I handle most of my purchases via mobile apps...
