The Housemaid Is Watching: An absolutely gripping psychological thriller packed with twists Kindle Edition

“You must be our new neighbors!” Mrs. Lowell gushes and waves across the picket fence. I clutch my daughter’s hand and smile back: but the second Mrs. Lowell sees my husband a strange expression crosses her face. In that moment I make a promise. We finally have a family home. My past is far, far behind us. And I’ll do anything to keep it that way…

I used to clean other people’s houses—now, I can’t believe this home is actually
mine. The charming kitchen, the quiet cul-de-sac, the huge yard where my kids can play. My husband and I saved for years to give our children the life they deserve.

Even though I’m wary of our new neighbor Mrs. Lowell, when she invites us over for dinner it’s our chance to make friends. Her maid opens the door wearing a white apron, her hair in a tight bun. I know exactly what it’s like to be in her shoes. But her cold stare gives me chills…

The Lowells’ maid isn’t the only strange thing on our street. I’m sure I see a shadowy figure watching us. My husband leaves the house late at night. And when I meet a woman who lives across the way, her words chill me to the bone:
Be careful of your neighbors.

Did I make a terrible mistake moving my family here?

I thought I’d left my darkest secrets behind.
But could this quiet suburban street be the most dangerous place of all?

From New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Freida McFadden comes the next installment of the unbelievably twisty, tension-packed and globally bestselling Housemaid series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone read: and once you start, it will have you up all night racing through the pages until the final explosive twist.

Spoiler free review.WOW! just WOW!!From the beginning I was extremely surprised and did not expect what we were introduced to, but I was extremely happy with it as well.It was absolutely brilliant trying to figure out what Millie was going to end up involved with this time round as she always finds herself in situations like the first two books, but I was surprised by this one.The whole book was brilliant, kept me guessing which is what I liked about the first two, but the introduction of a few new characters was good as well, but I was really surprised by the return of some old characters as well, even the mention of old characters was perfect. From chapter 58 onwards I was shocked to be honest, and the last chapter (epilogue) definitely surprised me, but it was written amazingly and I was drawn in even more than I was with the rest of the book.I really shouldn't be surprised anymore with one of @fmcfaddenauthor books, but I was genuinely surprised and shocked with this one, but I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it 😊.If you have read the first two books and haven't got this yet, you definitely need to get it, or maybe sweet talk a family member or friend in to getting you a copy 😂.

Okay.. so it was good and I was hooked but there were so many twists and turns that it started to get a bit ridiculous.

I don’t think it needed a third but I do like series so would probably read the fourth if there ever is one.

I found this book quite slow, nothing had happened by the time I’d got halfway through the book. The twist at the end was good but definitely not as good as her previous two books.

I really enjoyed this one, it had jumped forward quite a bit from where book two left off but I got into it straight away. It was hard to put down, the same as all Freidas books. I figured out who was going to be the murderer before anyone was murdered but the other parts weren't as easy to guess. That's the best thing about a Freida Mcfadden book, you think you have it all sussed out and then you realise you aren't even close to what's happening. She's a master with plot twists. Honestly I'd sort of given up on psychological thriller/plot twist type books in 2022 then last year I found the first housemaid book which blew my mind with the twist, I then read every single book by this genius and I got more impressed by each one. There's not a bad book in her collection. This one was definitely worth the wait

I've read the housemaid, The housemaid secrets and absolutely love them. Couldn't put them down..!

This one was good but I didn't enjoy it as much. The ending was amazing but found beginning abit of a drag.
Worth the read if read other 2 though.

She’s done it again. This third book was just as thrilling as the other 2. The second one was still my favourite, but this one was soo good. I started reading it at like 12:03am release day and finished it in a day. Same with all her books, outdone out it down.

**SPOILERS**

I never believed that enzo was cheating, I knew it would come out he wasn’t. Then I suspected the kids. I thought that nico was a psychopath, but when she was hinting at it, I knew that wasn’t the case. I’ve read enough of her books to know how it goes. I knew someone else was behind it, and the pov change was coming. So my next guess was Ada. But I thought that she was actually the psychopath one and Nico was scared of her or something. I didn’t expect that it was mr Lowell. I did think however Nico, or Ada had killed him.

Ada is amazing. She’s me. And it was so hard watching all the experiences she had with boys, boiled my blood. It’s all to real. Happens in real life. Especially when that guy said his dad told him “she’s falling reading and she really likes it”. NO MEANS NO. Like frieda really me and many other girls no doubt pulling from past experiences and society. When Ada threatened him, I lovveddd it.

But also I clocked on to the fact that Ada didn’t say she slit his throat. So I knew someone else finished the job. I thought maybe suzete. Or Nico. I did suspect Martha though, after I realised it wasn’t suzette.

But damn the the dark themes in this… I love it frieda

I’ve loved all three of this series but this is my favourite. I am totally invested in Millie’s family and really hope there’s more of them to come.

I love the way McFadden puts in twists throughout her books. The short chapters are great, I find it helps me fly through the book quicker.

This the 3rd book in the Housemaid trilogy took on a totally different slant than the first 2 books.
I found the beginning to be extremely slow unlike the first 2 that gripped me from the start
I'm unsure how I feel about the way Freida keeps repeating parts of the story over and over in the same book. Like she doesn't trust us not to forget so mentions it again just to be sure.
Once the book picked up it really hit me with the twists. Although once again I guessed the main plot. I didn't see the final twist until bam it was there

Well another Freida McFadden book shelved as read! Book 3 of the trilogy did not disappoint. It was fast paced and it had some crazy moments, especially in the second half of the book. It was very entertaining and that's what I look for in a book. It wasn't as thrilleresk (I know that's not a word but I couldn't think of one to use) as some of McFadden's books are but enjoyable none the less. I gave this book a 4 star rating.
