Bought to replace similar equipment that failed after about 8 years continuous use.
Easy plug and play somset up simple for someone with little computer knowledge how.
Compact unit and fast transfer of files and photos, made me realise how slow original old unit was.
Hard drives fit snug, but with no difficulty and secure when seated. At this purchase price, added bonus of the memory card reader and 2 additional usb slots for increased functionality.
For my needs of backing up files to and external hard drive and wiping hard drives from old computers, perfect for my needs.
Build quality appears high but only had for a week, no disappointments so far.
Dislikes:- a little slow on data transfer but fast enough if you want to know what’s on the drive and the old Sony sticks that I’ve used for an old camera are a little tricky to insert. Other than that it does its job well.
Obviously not every old hdd is made the same so Tccmebius (what a catchy name) fitted the dock with what can only be described as "a slidey thing" on the bottom of the unit to adjust the position of the molex connector to try and make it suitable for as many drives as possible, I've had it a few months now and used many many drives with it and in that time I've come across 2 that wouldn't fit and both were very old small capacity drives but you can get around that with a gender changer and connect the drive with an IDE cable so not a huge issue if it's only now and then, the actual "slidey thing" can be a little bit fiddly to use and does make you a bit paranoid your going to bend some tiny IDE pins but up to now I've had no issues, like I said it's just a bit fiddly, "patience is a virtue".
As far as using sata drives that's a none issue, absolute breeze there, unfortunately you can't use a sata drive and an ide drive at the same time and copy stuff between them, that's not something I'm particularly wanting to do so not a problem for me but thought I'd mention it.
The card reader part of the dock works well except for the CF card slot which I find very finnicky and awkward to get a card in safely without bending pins, my other "el cheapo" card reader works perfectly with CF cards so I don't know what the issue is maybe it's just my unit.
For me personally this unit has been brilliant, a nice easy way to connect my old IDE hdd's reliably to my modern PC which is my main usage.
If I was to mention a negative other than the CF Slot I would say it needs better rubber feet on the bottom of the unit as when an old hdd is in it it tends to vibrate a little on the desk and it can be irritating. (I've since ordered some little stick on rubber feet for it).

Decided to check all my old disks and dump any unwanted ones, so out it came, and I had checked & cleared two disks before it simply stopped working. Power light went off and that was it...goodnight vienna, as they say...Power supply ok, switch ok, so somewhere after the switch, something decided to stop.
Overall, IF it worked for a bit longer, it would be ok, but as I only got about an hour total use from it, I had to dump it. May have been a one off, unlucky faulty unit, and may have been repairable, but not worth even trying for a replacement after 3 years. I'll need to get a new one, but not from here!
I found that some old HDDs were a little recalcitrant and needed some fiddling to get them seated while others simply fell into place. Once I got the hang of it however (following the hints in the manual) it was fine.
One thing to note is that once the disk is seated on the connectors you have to press down with some force (i.e. more than I was initially prepared to use) to ensure both power and data connectors are correctly engaged. I nearly returned the unit as it was not reading my disks until I discovered that I had not seated them correctly. You'll know if the disk is correctly seated, because you will then need a similar amount of force and some wiggling to remove the disk again. I lever up the left side of the disk first, as you look at the unit from the front then the right side, with the power connectors come free easily.
