Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I bought both games as I thought they would be different as a present. but they seam to be virtually identical except for a couple of different Pokémon’s. so i would personally buy one and see if you really need the other one.
Newest addition to the Pokemon Franchise. It's a fully open world game where you are free to do whatever you want. Dare I say, it's the best Pokemon game up to date.
As far as choosing a version goes, I feel like the paradox Pokémon in Scarlet are much more cooler than Violet but of course this is a personal preference
As the next game in the pokemon franchise, this was a much-anticipated addition. Does it come up to expectations? Alas, not entirely.
Gameplay is pretty much the staple of the pokemon main games. You start off on your journey with your starter to collect badges, battle trainers and catch 'em all. But there are now extras - you're a high school student for a start - which comes with its own issues - one being you're stuck wearing a school uniform for the game. Considering previous additions gave you much more variety over your character's clothing, this is a step down. Besides the story it doesn't really affect the game play either, as you're still free to roam the wilds looking for critters, battle giant titan pokemon or take on the bases of the pokemon 'baddies' - Team star.
There are a few changes that may irk the older fans of previous titles. One being the evolution conditions for some pokemon, which have been changed or in some cases added in. Some rely on co-op to work, which is a con in my opinion. If you are a solo player, you're out of luck as you will either need another console and a copy of the game or to pay to play nintendo online. Trading and battling over wifi now will cost you extra money. Considering the older 3ds games had free access to trading with strangers over the internet, this is a downgrade.
The really big problem though - I'm going to say it - it's buggy. The big issue is the framerate. Entering towns causes the game to slug - some places are worse than others. Water effects make fps chug horribly, so do crowded towns and cities, which considering this is free roam, is a big problem. It is still playable - but it's not acceptable for a 2022 switch game. Side note, I have been using an OLED switch system to play and it still has issues. Even the newer consoles struggle with this game. Not that it is an excuse as if it's advertised to play on any switch console, it needs to do so.
The graphics themselves are pretty flat looking considering this is the same company that produced Breath of the wild. Graphics pop in and out of level density and textures vanish and appear before your eyes, meaning much of the landscape looks pretty sparce. Overall they look closer to the original ps2 graphics than the latest pokemon game, which again is not acceptable for game made in 2022.
Okay, so I've ripped into this, why the 4 starts? Bugs aside, I am enjoying wandering the landscape looking for pokemon. The extras make it interesting enough for a long time fan - I remember playing pokemon yellow back in the day - probably not as much for newcomers to the franchise though if they can see beyond the bugs. There is a lot to take in over the catch, train, trade and collect base mechanic that is the core of the pokemon games. If you are not familiar with pokemon in general, it is a lot to memorise at once.
A free roam main pokemon game has been long overdue. My only hope is a future update will fix/ severely lessen the graphic issues and fps rates that dog this game. It's a real shame as this had potential to be an excellent continuation to the franchise. To be brought low by something as unprofessional as game bugs is just sad.
I would be pressed to recommend this game at the moment. If a future update fixes things, then yeah, it is worth a play. But until they do, this game isn't worth the full asking price.
Absolutely loved both Scarlet and Violet. Amazing games that are super fun and are great for using up time and distracting yourself if you're going through hard times. The graphics are amazing and the storyline is unique and interesting. 10/10
