Bought as I wanted to not only keep an eye on the home, but keep an eye on pets. After research and taking into consideration things such as security and legality reasons, I chose Ring. They offered the best value all around, including subscriptions, which most implement. The customer does receive a complimentary 30 day trial. There are two price options one of around £60+ per year, or £80 per year of which devices registered are covered by an extended warranty until cancelled. Both options allow for downloading. Monthly payments are also an option. And there is a free version in which events can be viewed.
The cameras arrived with everything required in the box, including signs to put in windows, etc. The set-up was super easy, simply download the app, sign up, scan QR code on the back of the devices, enter the WiFi password once, and Ring does the rest. Including devices automatically updating to the latest version. The devices even communicate when first used during the process to aid the customer during set-up.
After the update, the customer can access the live feed to position the cameras, which can stand upright with no installation if the customer doesn't require so.
The motion detection is incredible, personally I haven't needed to adjust any settings. The camera hardware is a crystal clear 1080p or close, with the night vision being nearly the same. And the OS is impeccable. The field of view is wide, and you can zoom in on footage, and live feeds. And adjust zones etc.
The cameras hardware is that impressive it captures what a person says through a window.
The app has many features, works smoothly, and the user interface has clearly had a lot of care and thought put into it. The user can set up geo fences, and be reminded to arm cameras. Privacy covers built in. The user is notified of any person's/pets detected. And the user can access a live feed through the app itself, the image quality is around 720p when streaming meaning the user can see exactly what is happening at a glance. All via the app.
It's a bonus that the devices can also act as alarms, the user can access this feature via the app, with a two way microphone that is also of a decent quality. And any Ring devices registered on the same account work simultaneously together to offer greater services.
Overall I am extremely impressed, and pleased with this purchase. Ring has far surpassed my expectations as a customer.
