In the first few weeks of using it I rated it 4/5 but having used it now for the last 3 months I consider this product as a waste of money.

Negative points: 1. The water inlet keeps getting browned appearing like rust every other day despite following user instructions carefully- for example not overfilling, keeping lid of inlet open when not in use, using citric acid crystals etc etc. My concern therefore is one of hygiene. Not acceptable at all when it comes to baby's health.

2. It can only accommodate small amounts of veg and fruits. I found myself working so hard and thinking that people making their own food must be crazily busy. Repeatedly washing fiddly bits of this blender and constantly pureeing. My husband was commending my hardwork. Fortunately I had the time to do this spend on this crazy approach. However, one day I realised how foolish this method was. Life since this realisation has become lot lot easier with a more simpler approach detailed below.

3. As previously mentioned it is very difficult to clean- and food stains the lid just with one use. This is a bearable negative point.

What did make my life easier was:

1. Using kitchen craft microwave steamer (bought few years ago from amazon) which allows me to steam large amount of veg / fruits without having to cut them into 1cm cubes as what one does with the avent blender. It is easy to clean too. Just pour water in the base unit and put all your roughly chopped veg or fruits on top. Place in microwave. Quality of steamed veg a lot better than avent.

2. Once i finish steaming- i use my own blender ( preethi mixer grinder- again bought from amazon- indian blender which is very powerful for grinding spices and making batter). But I don't see why one cannot use any normal blender to purée. Also purée stage last only for so long, very soon food will have to be mashed.

All in all, disappointed with this purchase and consider it scarily unhygienic. Will not believe large number of positive reviews next time on amazon and instead prefer to read through negative reviews as they do tend to be more accurate in views and will help me make a better decision.
