3.0 out of 5 starsDisappointing - very little info other than HRT stuff

Having just started struggling with some menopausal symptoms I was excited to read this and hopeful it would help me out. I quite like Davina McCall, and thought this would be a good place to start my research, but I was really disappointed with the book.
Firstly the format seems to be all over the place, I didn't feel it flowed well at all. Secondly, the numerous personal experiences just get so dull after a while and I got a bit sick of the cheerleading Davina McCall does all the way through ("I love you SOOOO much, you've got this, etc" ... and how many times was her heart broken by some random stranger's story?). Thirdly, yes I'm sure HRT is a wonderful thing and I probably will talk to my doctor about that but I was hoping for some alternative ideas in the meantime.
I am not sure what I was wanting to get from this but maybe a bit more of the science behind why what is happening is happening (it's hormones, innit?) and what I can do to help. Some of the symptoms I am experiencing were raised but then not addressed - for example, I was promised tips on how to deal with red skin but other than moisturising (which does nothing for the redness) there was no further mention of it, other than HRT is the answer to everything. Other questions I have - for example, can you take HRT if you're on the pill? Does the pill mitigate some of the menopause symptoms, given it's hormones? - were not mentioned either.
I ended up skipping huge chunks of the book that just didn't feel relevant to me. I may come back to some of it but I feel like I could get more info doing a quick Google search. Sorry, Davina!
Basically this book could be summed up as:
Yes, it's almost definitely the menopause. but you're not alone. You got this! Now go and get some HRT and don't take no for an answer. Love you, babe!!
