Watch: 180,000 bees found living in bedroom ceiling

A giant colony of bees has been causing a buzz in Inverness, after about 180,000 were found living inside the ceiling of a house.

It is believed the bees had lived for several years above the plasterboard ceiling in a spare bedroom in the property.

The homeowner's grandchildren reported hearing buzzing at night when they went to sleep.

Three colonies were found in the home, with up to 60,000 bees in each.

Beekeeper Andrew Card of the Loch Ness Honey Company was called in to help relocate the swarm back to temporary hives.

The colonies will now be monitored for parasites for several weeks and then used for honey production next year.
