Jaden Philogene is closing in on a move to Ipswich Town less than a year after joining Hull City from Aston Villa.

The 22-year-old joined the Tigers for £5m, but is set to return to the Premier League this summer. The Athletic reported last week that Ipswich made a joint offer worth about £35m plus add-ons for Jacob Greaves and his Hull team-mate Philogene.

Greaves is having a medical at Ipswich, while Philogene moves closer to joining him at Portman Road. Everton and Crystal Palace have also registered an interest in Philogene, but Ipswich appear to have won the race for his signature.

Our sister title, Hull Live, claim that the Tigers have not agreed a deal with Everton as of yet, leaving Ipswich to complete a deal.

Villa did have a buy-back-agreement inserted into the deal which saw Philogene move to East Yorkshire, with a fee set at £15m, although it only comes into force if both clubs are in the same division.

The winger scored 12 goals in 31 Championship games last season and also registered six assists. He asked to leave Villa at the end of the summer window due to competition for places at Villa, despite impressing Unai Emery and earning himself a place in the squad for the 2023/24 campaign.
