About the Gala

The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation’s Profile in Courage Award gala provides crucial unrestricted financial support to the JFK Library’s free in-person and virtual programming, which serves hundreds of thousands of adults and children annually through educational offerings, arts and culture performances, Kennedy Library Forums, and more. A highlight of the gala is the presentation of the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award to a public official who has exemplified the quality that President Kennedy most admired: political courage.

At the 2024 gala, Jack Schlossberg presented the Award to Kentucky Secretary of State Michael G. Adams (R) for his efforts to expand voting rights and stand up for free and fair elections despite party opposition and death threats from election deniers. Adams worked with Democratic policymakers in his state to make ballot access expansion permanent in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 presidential election. The bipartisan legislation allowed for three additional days of in-person voting, due process for absentee voters whose ballots were rejected due to mismatched signatures, and the creation of large voting centers where all voters could cast their ballot regardless of precinct.

With Gratitude

The JFK Library Foundation salutes the generous supporters of the 2024 Profile in Courage Award Gala for helping to steward President Kennedy's legacy. Through their partnership, the Library is able to bring President Kennedy's message of service, sacrifice, courage, and patriotism to new generations so that they may discover a leader who believed we all have something special to give back to our country.
