About us
The Atlantic Council promotes constructive leadership and engagement in international affairs based on the central role of the Atlantic Community in meeting global challenges. Founded in 1961, the Council provides an essential forum for navigating the dramatic shifts in economic and political influence that are shaping the twenty-first century by educating and galvanizing its uniquely influential, nonpartisan network of international political, business, and intellectual leaders. Through the papers we write, the ideas we promote, and the communities we build, the Council’s ten regional centers and functional programs shape today’s policy choices and foster transatlantic strategies to advance international security and global economic prosperity. The Council is home to 16 regional and functional programs that advance the organization's mission. * Follow us on Twitter at https://twitter.com/atlanticcouncil * Follow us on Instagram @atlanticcouncil * Like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/AtlanticCouncil * For the latest employment opportunities, visit https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/careers/ * For a schedule of upcoming events, visit https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/events/#allevents

NEW UPDATE | The Atlantic Council GeoEconomics Center has released a major update to their Cryptocurrency Regulation Tracker. Here are some of the key findings: ➡️ Among the 60 countries studied, cryptocurrency is legal in 33, partially banned in 17, and generally banned in 10. ➡️ Of the countries reviewed, 70% are in the process of making substantial changes to their regulatory framework. ➡️ Both emerging-market and advanced economies still lag on regulatory frameworks and oversight. Only 19 of the 60 countries studied have regulations in place on taxation, AML/CTF, consumer protection, and licensing. ➡️ Stablecoins are the next frontier of cryptocurrency regulation. With the implementation of MiCA in the EU, half of the G7 countries now have stablecoin regulations in place. ➡️ Over 90% of the countries studied have active CBDC projects, indicating that countries adapt and update crypto regulation as they explore CBDCs.
