Last week, the Boston Red Sox honored Dr. Masashi Kai as a Medical All-Star. Dr. Kai is a heart transplant surgeon for the Beth Israel Lahey Health Heart Transplant Program, based at BIDMC, and has performed over 300 heart transplants in his career. Dr. Kai’s colleagues regard him as “an incredible leader, teacher and surgeon with a calm and humble demeanor, dedicated to excellent patient outcomes.” Congratulations, Dr. Kai, and thank you for your relentless dedication to providing life-saving care to patients. Masashi Kai 🤝 Masataka Yoshida Two of the best in the world at their craft, from nearby towns in Japan, now here in Boston making their mark. Yoshida is a star hitter for the Boston Red Sox and a World Baseball Classic Champion with Japan in 2023. Dr. Kai was selected to lead the Beth Israel Lahey Health Heart Transplant Center at BIDMC in 2023 and was honored as a Medical All-Star by the Red Sox at Fenway Park on Friday. Before the game, Dr. Kai and Yoshida made a white coat/jersey swap to commemorate the occasion.

After giving birth to her children, Kelli S, an emergency room nurse, knew that something was wrong. Kelli dealt with pelvic pain for years and was repeatedly told there were no findings.
